First grow from a friend of a friend:
8x BRF cakes of Fiji with MS
2x BRF cakes of Nepal with MS
1x Rye for G2G of PE6 with MS
1x Rye for G2G of Nepal with MS
4x Rye of PE6 from agar
8x MEA dishes of Nepal with MS
the rest of the dishes are PE6 MS
Only the agar and Nepal jar were inoculated in a SAB. Everything else in the open, but no contaminations so far.
SGFC (not yet drilled). 100+ qts for coir bulk trays alongside cakes.
Couldn't find parafilm for a reasonable price so taped half of the dishes with micropore tape (PE6). I feel like this is a bad idea (anyone have experience using micropore on petri dishes? Or condensation?) Admittedly, was impatient and shouldve waited for the agar to cool more. However, if it goes bad then there is a lot of solution in the MS syringes left. Also have some polycarbonate culture bottles en route for more isolating.

My most delicious pie spawn is doing alright so far as well. I'm hoping to open it up to fruiting conditions by the end of the week. This is a fast grower. I couldn't find any real 1 pint teks so I just spawned the Nepal to equal parts coir and a splash of verm.

You can wrap your petris in regular saran wrap next time but I'd imagine the micropore tape will do the trick as the main objective is to keep contams out which it does fine with jars. I could be completely wrong but your already there so you might as well see how it turns out. Looks like it's going to be an awesome project keep posting updates

Yeah I was just thinking that lol, a lot of projects to take on all at once for the first grow but if you have the time to why not right? Keeps it interesting

Thanks. I figured the same, already did it so I'll see it through. The saran wrap seemed like so much of a hassle that I just didn't bother. I also don't see how parafilm works better than micropore tape. Maybe someone can enlighten me.

Kind of a sponge and have obsessive tendencies. Read up on the PF Tek and just fell into the worm hole of different teks after having already set the 1/2 pint jars to colonize. Thankfully, everything is staggered.
BRF jars were done on 8/29, one rye jar was inoculated on 9/4, the other rye jar on 9/7, and the agar on 9/6.
That's why there's a large tub for a SGFC, to accommodate multiple projects going at once. Hope all goes well, don't judge guys! :P
Oh, forgot that there's a LC honey jar as well. Don't remember the date and feel like it was botched. There's caramelized sugar at the bottom of the jar and the liquid is quite dark. Chalk it up to being a novice.

Yeah the more you dip your hands into the faster you'll learn from mistakes. I'm still new as well and struggling with sterile technique in my SAB but it's been improving at rapid rates do to the guys here. Keep us up to date, everyone has love for mush and can lend all kinds of eyes on things that look good and things that dont. And if your having trouble with your LC check out pastys easy LC Tek might give you some ideas and help reduce the chance of contamination in the future. Best of luck man

I see some cloudy formations over the caramelized sugar. Is this mycelium?

Update: we have germination in all petri dishes except one. I should be able to start isolating in a week or two. In retrospect, I don't think I should've inoculated 16 dishes. Kind of a waste but I was a little drunk.
BRF is colonizing nicely. The Nepal jars are rather slow but the Fiji jars are at about 35-40%.
Got some quart jars in preparation for G2G.

I love it. I've been hobby-less for a long time since I abandoned my significantly more expensive saltwater aquarium hobby. I'm really impatient though and want some damn fruit. Hopefully, I'll have something to show in a few weeks.
Needless to say, my friends are excited about my new found hobby as well

This seems like a path you'd want to steer clear from at the moment. I wouldn't mess with liquid culture yet. Without a proper lid your filter is a vector for contamination and LC is hard to dial in. Stick to agar for now.

Yeah I'll prob abandon that little project. I can make silicon injection ports later, I think I still have some in my closet.

Awesome, thanks. I shook it yesterday morning. I was surprised to see how much it had colonized over 2 days.
Would it be worth it to go G2G with this? It's just a pint jar of MS.
