A friend of mine cased his popcorn about two weeks ago. Everything seemed to be going pretty well, with nice mycelium cover and a decent amount of pins (though he was stupid enough to case in a transparent container, so thing grow almost exclusively on the sides). He's seen some blue in the case, but wrote that off as bruising. Now he's noticed something else growing in the case; some form of thick, spongy white mass (think brain pattern). It's been growing in the areas that had the most blue. He first thought it was mycelium, but it's very different from the mycelium that first came through the casing layer. It doesn't smell unpleasant, but he's still concerned. He looked through various contamination FAQs, but couldn't find anything that matched what's in the casing. Anyone got any ideas on what this could be?
It's just really thick mycelium probably. I say that b/c when growin PF style, the myc on the sides of the jars are flat but after I flip them over they have more space on top so they grow thicker with that "brain pattern" look.
