Well here it is the last day of August so I thought I'd better finalize that JULY contest before starting the September one...
First Place goes to "Ruthless Truth Strain"
Quote:
Lennybernadino said: Contest relationship confession.
Once I tripped with my first wife and the mushrooms started to make me confess that I cheated on her once with an Australian stripper. I did not want to confess so I decided to eat a noni fruit (something that brings you back to normal consciousness instantly) However I could not lift it to my mouth. My hand was literally out of my control and would not put the noni to my mouth and instead threw the stinky fruit against the wall with great force. I then confessed which eventually ended that marriage . That was a good thing it was a horrible marriage and I was never going to be happy or successful , or ever really live in that marriage.
I ate the mushroom with the intention of ending the negative cycle in our relationship and they ended the relationship. Those were my ruthless truth strain. Everyone who ate them would be confronted by truth. By strain I mean a literal strain or isolate and not a variety that has been stabilize through generations of spore work. Though that is a great idea to stabilize a strain for more esoteric purposes rather than just size shape, yield, potency, color, etc.... I would really love to do that and distribute, teach some of ya casual play trippers what power plants are really about... hehehe.
Second Place goes to "Looking for Love in all the Mush Places" or "Loving Myco Foreplay" (I'll admit this is bit of a stretch but I liked it.
Quote:
LizardWizard said: I do that on almost EVERTYHING mush related. It helps to a certain amount when you're figuring things out, but I have real trouble getting the putting it off out, even with things I've gotten used too. Real annoying sometimes. But when I do get to the point of doing it, at least I feel ready. I used to keep putting it off and then start shaking during agar work and shit like that
Now that only rarely happens.. The putting things off will have to go too eventually. I feel like a dedicated workspace would really help with that. I imagine just walking into the mush room (pun intended) would instantly put me in the right state of being. I've had that with other stuff as well, as long as the place and setting are stable, I feel like just walking in and start doing stuff, until it becomes almost a dance. That's totally impossible if you have to move shit around all the time before being able to get to work.
And sometimes it just feels like one big foreplay thing
Third Place Goes to "Myco Jealousy Goes Balistic"
Quote:
Boogieman47 said: CONTEST ENTRY: Myco Relationship Confession I have threatened my chick to leave due to me being paranoid of her ex threatening to call cps because he was a pill addict/ theif she wouldnt let him see tbe kids ... while doing so she flipped out while drunk and said i fucking HATE!!!!! Mushrooms you only love them you dont love me and all i cpuld do was laugh hysterically
So Congratulations to Lennybernadino, LizardWizard and Boogieman - shoot me a PM with your address and I will hook you up with a Tasmanian spore print and maybe something else.
HONORABLE MENTION goes to Mushboy and TheBlackCat who IMHO flirt in this thread.

Lenny's was great, so great I asked him if he could hook me up with that strain. Lost to time though. And Boogie's had me laughing real good. I could really see it in my mind.

Thanks. hehe. It's ok. I don't know what to do with the prints I already have from you. Just made a bunch of new agar for them.
I confess my agar is looking a bit swampy. That moment you make agar and realize it's looks like someone with a UTI peed in all your jars. EEEWE. I shoulda prolly added some color to it so it's not so gross but fuck it. It is what it is. I cut the nutes and added some tea made from a few boiled rye berries, coco coir and a spoonful of worm castings that I boiled down and filtered. Hopefully that promotes some nice leap off.

Oh that's not the full recipe. It's MYA. I just made the substrate tea to promote leap off onto the grain and substrate later.
Cause um page 90 of Paul Stamets "Growing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms."
I'm going to swipe all my new prints on agar and my next transfers of PESA and KSSS are going to grain jars next week along with my new oyster and lions mane cultures.

K.I.S.S. KEEP IT STUPID SIMPLE or my favorite, KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID... none of that is neccesary. leap off will happen no matter what, unless there's something wrong

So I'm quoting word for word. "One potential advantage of the addition of these end components is significant reduction in the "lag period." The lag period is seen when mushroom mycelium encounters unfamiliar components." I'm not just using it fory cubes and when you do this it sets it in it's genetics to respond better to your substrate as well. So yeah I'm going to probably do this whether or not you want to do it. Hasn't hurt my agar yet.

I just think it's funny and I know that whether or not I protested it I'd still get slack from you.
I confess I'm proud of myself for pushing through the pain and making agar tonight. I had to move around all my stuff in the basement to make my chode landlord happy so the new people could temporarily put their stuff in the basement. He's refinishing the floors tomorrow morning and I won't have access to the kitchen till mid-day Monday. I really wish I wouldn't have forgotten to soak my grains last night because I would have had at least a few jars inoculated with my new cultures. At least I'll be able to play with my new prints this weekend and I can put a few cultures on agar just to check them out. It's taken me forever to get into anything that's even resembled a routine. With the new access to my kitchen and being able to PC whenever I want I see more things happening. I would have never been able to PC this late before.

I confess I find your cultivation passion inspiring. You strive so hard and find as many of the little cracks and spaces you can to work out times to cultivate in your tricky situation.
It reminds me a bit of before I told my wife and kids I was cultivating. I would get up early or stay up late... or I'd rush home from taking my kids to school and jam in a bit of cultivating before I had to go to work. Things took so much extra time because I was hiding everything in the back of closets or the attic or in dark corners of the garage.
but you just love it and you keep trying to find a way!
I confess I'm also hoping for the day when you have a worry free living situation and you can cultivate to your heart's content and be relaxed and comfortable about how your organize your stuff and your mush cult time.

Sooner than later I hope. Been saving up money and looking for just the right place. Next time I move I want it to be as permanent as possible and have a good floor plan and no carpet. I fucking hate carpets. It also needs to have a room I won't destroy with humidity. Glad you are finally able to cultivate freely. It's nice too cause you can make food for the fam.
