perlyte at the bottom of a casing.......
    #2458890 - 03/22/04 12:06 AM (14 years, 1 month ago)

was told that perlyte worked well in the bottom of a casing, and i think i can recall the procedure, (cause i sure as hell cant remember where i read it )

poke holes in the bottom of a baking pan, get perlyte and jiffy mix soupy in seperate bowls, nuke for 10 mins each, let cool, then put down a layer of the sterile perlyte, then the crumbled cake, then 1/4 of the cake depth layer of the sterile jiffy mix. then cover.

ok, how do i know if the term "soupy" is too wet? is that why there are holes in the bottom??? any suggestions? :wtf: :gd_icon:

Moist perlite does work well as a bottom layer in casings. Works well in many kits that come from Europe. (that was the first I heard of perlite as a bottom layer).
