Critiquing your own theories
    #2457569 - 03/21/04 04:43 PM (13 years, 3 months ago)

It has occurred to me that critiquing one's own theories and ideas is a lot like critiquing one's own children. It is very hard to objectively evaluate something that you yourself have created.

Thats why I'm so glad to have you guys around to call me on it when I'm full of shit. Thanks guys!!! Without you, I'd be a delusional madman (moreso) !!!

You're welcome. Same here. Well, not quite. My dad's quite the skeptic, so he's always been there to keep me from going off the deep end. But with you guys, I can have much more in-depth discussions. My dad will talk with me for a little while, but eventually he'll want to get back to watching golf.

Have you considered that your Dad is actually much more advanced than you are?  :smile2: (Us old guys have to stick together!)

No, but its an easy thing to forget.

also, sometimes people need to share their ideas and talents with others so they can realize how  good they are.  Me, I'm a pessimistic manic depressive.  I'm pretty biased against myself sometimes (but never intellectually- I'm an overconfident prick in that department  ).
