RunDMT's Music suggestion thread

Here it is! Upon request, believe it or not.

I feel obligated to start out with Krumelur's "Minimal Animal", probably the most important milestone in Minimalism, and also probably my very favorite. It's weird, Swedish, minimal, warm, jazzy and absolutely mindbending during the right circumstances.:heart:

Krumelur: Minimal Animal (Crotus 2002)

1. Minimal Animal
2. Nuts
3. Bending Birdbeats
4. The Antpeople
5. Knorr
6. What do you think?
7. Big Troublems
8. Warm Swarm

I didn't read that, but I wanted to add that I think you're a little too harsh on infected mushroom. They may not be as good as the music you prefer.. but that doesn't mean they're not good in our north american ears.  :O

 I'm checking out the stuff you've suggested.. Would you say this style is good for salvia tripping? I've been listening to a lot of RDJ's selected ambient works 2.. anything of this that would be like that?

Next up is an act that pulls some serious respect. They never lose touch in their flawless production. One of the biggest names ever in progressive psy, out of Sweden - Son Kite.

Son Kite: Minilogue
(Nova Tekk 2000)

1. Deuce
2. Imprint
3. Back beyond rotation
4. Levitate
5. Fungi funk
6. Openfaced
7. Phony phonic

This is where things get interesting... The two Swedes switch labels to the unknown "Digital Structures", one of the most respected labels ever these days.

Son Kite: Perspectives of...
(Digital Structures 2001)

1. Collection
2. (W)holy road in Monterrey
3. Where?s my drum?
4. If ashtrays could talk
5. Bitter sweet
6. Driveshaft
7. Hi-fi stomp session
8. Clockwise
9. Aiwana

Son Kite: Aiwana Remixes (Digital Structures 2002)

1. DJ Nukem remixes
2. Flow mix
3. Original version
4. Downbeat mix

They will be releasing their long awaited 3rd album this year in March or April. I?m quite excited.

A few videos, found at http://www.SonKite.com

Number 1
Number 2
Number 3

Yes. Both Ott and Younger Brother loosely fits into that category, or rather 'psyambient'. Though Blumenkraft is sort of a dub experiment.

Another awesome act that should not be overlooked is Shulman.

Shulman: Soundscapes & Modern Tales (Shaffel 2002)

1. Small grey creatures
2. New paradigm
3. First came the stars
4. Take a walk outside
5. Elements
6. Avant garden
8. Shiogo
9. Aion

And the sizzling new album...

Shulman: In search of a meaningful moment (Aleph Zero 2003)

1. Inner selves Sample
2. The unexpected visitor Sample
3. A magnificent void Sample
4. Consciousness revoked Sample
5. Random lifelines Sample
6. Mushroom therapy Sample
7. Another paradigm
8. Instability Sample

If you're after straight up ambient, I definitely suggest Vidna Obmana. This one first and foremost:

Vidna Obmana: The surreal sanctuary (Hypnos 2000)

1. Infinity
2. Lamentation
3. The first coil
4. The profound isolates
5. Jewel of the underground
6. The fragmented dome
7. Flame

Back on the topic of Progressive...

Igneous Sauria: Encepfalophagus
(CreamCrop 2003)

1. Encepfalophagus
2. Pustracer
3. Heliumdoron
4. McNutCrak
5. Cluster
6. Crispy
7. Enigmata
8. A-muser
9. Skogsra
10. Falcherun

This is one hell of a stylish debut album... Intelligent construction that goes from grinding progressive to a more 'techy' approach. Might be a bit tough to digest at first, but definitely a great album.

Its always a good sign when cd's have 7-9 tracks
Personally all the psychedelic/goa trance I've ever listened to are Israeli, the best country in this genre in my honest opinion!
Get "Retro - 10 years of Israeli Trance"... then we talk music...!

More loved ones out of Digital Structures...

This is an absolutely insane album... Straight out of Poland.  It's not very thorough in style, nor traditional sounding. It's quite unique, and I think that's what makes it appeal so much to me. People call it "amateur", "too weird" and so on... Personally, I can't wait to get more of this stuff.

BigWigs: Fraktalik Fraterniti (Digital Structures 2003)

1. Coder Avenza
2. Pianogra
3. Trele Morele
4. Generau Gruw
5. Pusi Intruder
6. Robot Meloman
7. Papa Gejos
8. Autotent
9. Body Louszyn
10. Zajzajer
11. Not Siuer Jet

Moving on to Ticon, another Swedish act out of DS. They've got that mellow, cool, summer breeze sound down like no other. Which they demonstrate quite nicely on the latest album. Though the debut, Rewind, is not to be forgotten.

Ticon: Rewind (Digital Structures 2001)

1. You can have my fraggles
2. Gurk burk
3. Wank the skank
4. 2 steps forward and 1 to the left
5. The cozy cactus
6. We are the mammoth hunters
7. Super model girlfriend
8. Play my boy
9. Mona bone

And the latest...

Ticon: Aero (Digital Structures 2003)

1. Don't tell me I sing like a robot
2. Waiting for the knights
3. Elt
4. Some simple sounds
5. Vox pabiscum
6. Groovin the bed
7. It breakz my heart
8. Back to basic
9. Ghost in the machinery
10. Bonanza
11. Snooze da booze

Another well rooted act, previously on Spiral Trax, that's evolved and ended up on DS - Vibrasphere.

Vibrasphere: Lime Structure (Digital Structures 2003)

1. Soul wire
2. Lemon phase
3. Newport
4. Time shifter
5. Manzanilla
6. Indian summer
7. Purple floating
8. Infusion
9. Silver sun

I love their new sound. Definitely DS material.

I think that's enough progressive for now, time for some nutty minimal. :crazy2:

Yeah most of the traditional psy is out of Israel, though we scandinavians have some very well respected acts in that style.

The Progressive and Minimal genres however, were not only spawned in Scandinavia, but we also have all of the top artists still to this day.

This is nice, seeing as there's lots of opportunities to catch their live acts and maybe smoke some herb with the artists.
