Again, we're talking about equal opportunity rather than equal outcome.
If a college accepts 20% of the applicants from Beverly Hills High, then they should accept 20% of the applicants from Compton High. Equal opportunity.
If either one ends up doing better than the other, then so be it, I'm not arguing for equal outcomes.

I also attack my side if I think they're wrong. People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

But then that's not "equal opportunity" anymore, that's preferential treatment based on some arbitrary factor.

create a baseline standard for acceptance and randomize applicants who meet the standard.

Diecommie suggested two that would be helpful: Federal education funding to equalize education spending per student and universal healthcare. It would be at the taxpayers' expense, of course.

I also agree that would help, and I believe in time we'll get a return on the amount spent.
I know why Ocare premiums have gone up, it's simple, people were hella sick and needed a lot of care, surgeries etcs. Those folks still need Ocare because private insurance won't touch them. Drugs are expensive, hospital stays, surgery... I believe in time with better education we'll see a very positive change
And you'll have better health care, where folks are getting regular check ups

The right strikes back. I guess both sides don't like statues.

Equal opportunity in higher education would require free tuition. You down?

Free tuition usually puts limits on who can go though. Im a high school drop out. I could never have gone if I didnt have the chance to take out loans and pay my way. Still, I got a ton of federal grant money and my grad school was paid for. Higher education is already heavily subsidized. Insane debt generally comes from poor choice in school and subsidizing a middle class lifestyle with loans.

So borrowing money to go to college isn't "equal opportunity"?

We are discussing equal opportunity to obtaining higher education, what does money have to do with having equal opportunity to do so?
Equal opportunity is about having equal access, it has nothing to do with personal finances.

lol, no.
Someone who gets to go to college for free and someone who has to go into massive debt to do so do not have an equal opportunity.
Don't start with the equal access shit. We got equal access to Ferraris too. Yet I only see rich people driving them. Its almost like money is a significant factor.
