so, i recently started a casing, and all the fungi growing on it are starting to be covered by mycelium...is this cuased by too much humidity, or too little? or too warm of temps? i'm just not sure what's causing it...any input so that i can fix it would be appreciated.
thank you in advance

High humidity can cause fluffy mycelium to grow at the bases of your shroomies!

what's your setup like? do you fan? what strain are you using? are we talking pins, or almost mature fruits? any pics would help. usually, too much humidity will cause the fuzzies, but there are contams that will look fuzzy too. just tryin to help

If you look, you can see white fluffy looking stuff at the bases of some of the shrooms, thats from high humidity. Seems like the longer the RH is really high, the further up the stem it climbs. These are either Gulf Coast or Koh Samui, I forget. Mycelium can grow on the caps as well.

I live in a very low humidity enviornment and I still get fuzzy stems. For me, it started happening after about my 3rd or 4th flush. The casings I'm doing right now are on their 7th and they still look healthy and they still are 'good', they just have little fuzzy bottoms. You can't really tell anymore when they're dry though and it hasn't affected anything negatively.

wow! what kind of casings are they?! I've never gotten more than 3 flushes before the green trich showed up.

if you dry your shrooms, the white fuzz just kinda dissapears. You can't really "wipe it off" but i don't see anyreason you couldn't munch it with the rest, or cut it off if ur picky
On the causes, i've always associated mycelial growth on mushrooms to general vigourusness. While many others connect it with high humidity, I'm unconvinced;. i've never really seen it as a problem tho.

Yeah, if the fuzz is just mycelium, then it's fine. I've had mushrooms before with bluish-white fuzz on the bottom of the stems, and I just ate them up -- yum, yum -- they were good!
