Is this centerpiece cobweb?

Hey guys, I have just made my first 2 jars of BRF & the one which started to show signs of mycelium has a grayish blob in between 3 whiter spots, is this cobweb?

I don't have a PC so I used fractional sterilization, 3 days of 90 minutes steams

Fractional sterilization isn't a reliable method
You just over cooked your jars and threw moisture content off

You can steam sterilize pf cakes without a pressure cooker
It's one 90m treatment

That jar doesn't have cobweb but doesn't look good

Really? I thought it was more reliable as it would allow endospores to germinate then kill them? I tried to sterilize a few jars back then using the steam method and they all ended up with white stuff without me inoculating them.

I know my sub is probably oversaturated but I have however sealed the lid with aluminum foil then screwed over to not mess with the substrate humidity once the 3 day were over I unscrewed & replaced the foil with a coffee filter to have a double barrier with the term layer.

So if this mycelium doesn't look good would you say it wouldn't be a great yield? would it change if once colonized I spawned this to a mono tub with better conditions?

Thanks for the reply! kept checking in like crazy haha

Dude you had issues because you're covering up the dry verm layer with shit causing it to get wet and letting things germinate on it. The only filter you need is a dry verm layer, and it NEEDS to be dry.

If you actually let it breathe with a nice dry verm layer, you wouldn't have molds germinating on your verm layer after a steaming. Molds die at pasteurization temps (140 within 30 minutes) so if you had a mold after the steam, it came in from sources other than steaming..

Bacteria is the one with endospores.
