Casing in plastic containers, or metal pans?
    #2455093 - 03/20/04 04:52 PM (20 years, 12 days ago)

I've always cased in metal pans (those ones u cook turkeys in, the soft ones).

Anyone have as much success using plastic ones? I've seen a bunch and they seem like a LOT easier clean up.

I'm talking about plastic similiar to tupperware, except completely black. Walmart has them

Any plastic containers similar to the size of your metal ones should work fine as long as light cant penetrate it or you will get pins on the sides of your casing.

I have had better success with plastic containers, actually. They work just fine! I haven't seen any black ones at Wal-Mart... will have to look harder next time. Tape and foil sucks.

...Or if you're using tupperware for microclimates you can just use the entire bottom of the tupperware...no pans needed. Just lay your casing material at the bottom and go.

I need something more sturdy than the foil pans....my terranium is in a hard to reach place so it is hard to use both hands to lower the try inside...when using one hand those aluminum trays would bned and buckle and piss me the fuck off. more solid plastic, or even glass brownie type trays, work well for me.

???? why would you clean the tin foil trays? they were made for 1 time use from the start, and besides you can get 7 for $1 in the 99 cents shop around where I live. I'm sure you can find those at your neighborhood as well. IMO so much easier and less cleaning to do.
