no colonization in jars ? ( first time grower )
    #24548662 - 08/12/17 06:37 PM (10 months, 1 day ago)

i'm not sure what else i can do - starting to feel discouraged. i have tried three different batches of 8 jars and none of them grew any mycelium after 4 weeks. ( most just started smelling sour / darkened spots where i inoculated - had to pitch them )

i use a pressure cooker at 15 psi for 90 minutes.
order from trusted sponsor. layer of dry verm on top. turn off air and vents for 30 mins before inoculating.

i use a still air box. plastic bin with holes cut out - i clean area thoroughly with rubbing alcohol. i flame sterilize needle with a grill lighter. use alcohol swab on jar lid before inoculating. flame sterilizing between each jar. gloves / face mask. jars are kept on shelf - 77 degrees in home. they get a little bit of light each day.

ugh. just nothing grows. not even a little bit.

any tips or suggestions for jars that absolutely won't colonize after these measures are taken? thank you.

I would assume your jars are too wet resulting in bacterial contam... Try making the jars drier. A little too dry is better than too wet IMO.
