Prior to 2002, psilocybin mushrooms were widely available in Japan and were often sold in mail-order shops, online vendors and in head shops throughout Japan; according to Hideo Eno of Japan's Health Ministry narcotics division, prior to 2002, "You can find them [psilocybin mushrooms] anywhere."[11] In June 2002, Japan Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry added psilocybin mushrooms to Schedule Narcotics of Narcotic and Psychotropic Drug Control Law, possibly in preparation for the World Cup, and in response to a widely reported case of mushroom poisoning. Use, production, trafficking, growing or possession of psilocybin mushrooms is now illegal in Japan.

This is why people should encrypt their computers and use VPNs. Then you can have a smoke and relax in situations like this.
As for advice: Depending on what's on your computer and what the punishment for spore possession is you should either not go back or go back and prepare yourself for whatever Japanese prison entails.

I hope OP turns out ok. But, OP, you put your fam at risk.
Growing weed was legal in my state once. I was still living at home with family and I had started a grow op. It was doing really well and I had came into my groove, pulling amazing buds and good yields.
As soon as it became illegal again I tore it down. I had sank a lot of time and money into it but in the end it would have been selfish to keep it under the same roof as family when it became illegal.

I attempted to find something about Japan's stance on spores specifically but other then them being illegal I couldn't find much. No telling how severe they will treat it especially if it's coupled with information regarding cultivation etc on his computers. I mean for all we know OP has pics of past grows on there and they will charge him as if he was Pablo Shroomscabar.

How do you know OP would go to jail if you don't even know what severity of "other stuff" he had confiscated.
OP, what kind of stuff did they find? Drugs? Just spores? Mycelium? What all will they find on your computer?
Depending on what they found id be trying to get my family out of the country and never go back. Im sure they would love to make an example out of the foreigner and show their superiors how they found a 'drug lab'.

After OP does time he will get deported most likely Japan at least dosen't execute drug users so he will leave but likely won't ever be allowed back into Japan.
