What passage or verse would it be?
Would this be a good idea, do you think?

i tried to read while tripping many times....... it depends on your dose, a low dose(1 gram or say) leaves you capable of reading, and most importantly being able to comprehend words on a page at a deeper level.... get into higher doses and the only comprehension you have is from your own minds point of view.

I think Revelations would make me paranoid while tripping. On the other hand, psychedelics might help a lot in interpreting the cryptic language of that book. Anyway, I think if you start having a bad trip, I'd start reading one of the four Gospels. My favorite has always been Luke, but most Christians seem to prefer John.

Just hope you don't notice the anti-semitic tones that could send you in a bad trip thinking about how it all played out to allow the Holocaust

I would just hold it and stare at it, amazed that such a little book could influence and effect so many people for so long.

Yeah, I'm the same way. But I want to *try* to read it at least.
I was thinking Psalms or something because they sound poetic and when I'm tripping I like everything to be one big poem.

We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

Well, not to be rude but, "Alot more fun this way?" Thats a strange comment. There are all sorts of ways to have fun while tripping, not just "that way".
I like reading while tripping. I think you'll just have to accept the fact that some people just like doing it. Once when I was tripping I tried reading a passage out of Gormenghast, and it was fantastic. I felt like I was harnessing the very power of the words. It was wonderful. (even though I couldn't make sense of WHAT I was reading, the experience was rewarding)

The bible isnt that pure because it has been written over many times for various peoples perceptions (ie: kings, monks, romans, fires). Anything that you have faith is good. No matter anykind. But I cant not say its good to have belief on misfounded things per se. -Gubjet

that's not a strange thing to say at all. you are actually one of the few that I know of that likes to read while tripping. now I'm not saying that's good or bad cause who am I to say that?
when I'm tripping, my mind becomes VERY simplified. barely any chatter in my head (and I like to keep it that way). you almost become a child in one sense (we are all children in another sense )
I can accept that you like to read.......starting . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . NOW!!! hehehehe

You have a higher susceptibility while on psychedelics, so don't read the bible. What you put in your head is important while tripping.
Reading the bible will only teach you to hate and be ashamed of yourself and your body. No offense to the Christians.

hmmmm... depends on what you wish to focus on... old testament or new... old - not the history stuff & battles... maybe the song of songs which is solomon's (quite erotic poetry, actually...); or the wisdom books - ecclesiates (some good stuff in there...), or proverbs... the new testament - well, the gospel of mark is sooo quick, but the ending sorta leaves you hanging, hehheh (it does give the impression that there was more to tell; one wonders what "the original manuscript" might have had written)... ~ the there's stuff of great interest that's not in "the canon" --- the essene gospel of peace; bel & the dragon; the wisdom of jesus son of sirach; the gospel of thomas (& a fair amount of dead sea scroll stuff - essenic apocolyptic literature mostly), gnostic scriptures, writing of the early church fathers, the zohar, and much more for sure... ~ ~ bit offtopic here: i find it easier to read stuff like jane english's beautiful _tao te ching_ (but that's just me - the words are so direct & the photographs are enough to get lost in, let alone the chinese calligraphy, hehheh...) ~ poke around at: www.sacred-texts.com & some of the links & webrings at www.thefane.org ~~~

It would be better to engage the expanded mind in the process of reading (which is a restrictive activity) after the peak, when the expansion is constricting, and one is in a state of enhanced suggestability.
I used to trip all night, then when able to drive, would travel to Eagle Rock Reservation - a NJ scenic overlook of New York City. There, I would await sunrise and read Matthew's 'Sermon on the Mount.' That 'sermon' gives a personality profile of one wishing to be conformed to the image of Christ, and was for me a useful learning experience. Oweing to increased psychic suggestability on the comedown, the message could seep down to subconscious levels of the psyche to take root. This transformation was, and still is, central to the importance of reading scriptures for spiritual transformation.

I have never read while tripping. I've tried, and the words kept playing games my eyes: swirling, bubling, melting, et al. I listen to books on tape or used to sometimes on on acid. Physicalyl impossiblity to read though. I almost never take like 1/2 a hit or 1 hit only or eat 1-2 grams though.
