Pastywhyte said: You can grow with CFU's present. In fact to totally sterilize grain is rather impractical for the home hobbiest. In the end it's about populations. The more you start out with, the greater the chance for a bloom that overruns the colony or inhibits it.
With a syringe that had rather low CFU's it's very likely that one could put it right to liquid media and pull off a grow. I imagine that the amount of bacteria might not put the colony at risk of succumbing to mold during spawning. But it still hurts the BE in the end. So why not limit them CFU's as much as possible.
LC for me is not about stretching spores. It's about managing to inoculate large quantities of spawn. If I wanted to stretch a spore syringe I would shoot about 5cc of it into a half gallon of sterilized water. When I use LC it's because I want to do a good sized grow. I am probably wanting to be assured of stellar results which means using a familiar culture that I know is going to produce a big potent yield. Spores are a crap shoot, and contamination aside, I don't want to get a big bunk grow either. I want 200% BE and potent as fuck fruits.
I am certainly not an LC hater. I just feel that it's a powerful tool best wielded with precision.

How long will the spores keep in the water?

Have a question. I was reading the first few pages of this thread and pretty much got everything down that I need to do. The only couple questions I have is how many cc's will one of these jars make roughly? And I have 2 cc's left in my Spore syringe of golden teacher and 2 cc's of mazatec. Can I make 1 cc work for each jar? Or should I use 2 cc's for each jar?

It depends on how big the jar is. The tek doesn't specify. a 1/2 pint jar holds 250cc. Use less than a cc of spore solution per jar. A single drop is all you need.

I was going to use the same size jar that the tek is using. I looked up one of those jars and I think it's 15 ounces, which is almost one pint. So I'm assuming one holds almost 500 cc's

Read the last few pages of this tek. IMO this tek is shit and a huge waste of spores. But it is very appealing to noobs, which sucks

This thread was moved from Mushroom Cultivation.
Reason: Spores to LC is far from beginner friendly
And holding your breath is not sterile technique.
