Hi. I've gotten very interested in medicinal mushrooms, and I wonder if anyone has a complete list of those known today ? I also would like links to homepages about medicinal mushrooms, what effects they have, how to grow them, where they come from, what they contain, everything. This is the list of medicinal mushrooms that I've gathered on different sites on internet: Agaricus blazei murill (Royal Agaricus) Agaricus brasiliensis (The Brazilian blazei, Himematsutake) Auricularia polytricha (Chinese Mo-Her) Cordyceps sinensis (Cordyceps, Dong Chong Xia Cao) Flammulina velutipes (Golden Needle Mushroom, Enokitake) Fomitopsis officinalis (Laxative/Quinine) Ganoderma lucidum (Reishi/Ling Chi) Grifola frondosa (Hen of the Woods, Maitake) Hericium erinaceus (Lion?s Mane, Yamabushitake) Lentinula edodes (Shiitake, Xiang Gu ) Trametes versicolor (Turkey Tail, Kawaratake, Yun Zhi) Tremella fuciformis (White Jelly Leaf) thanks in advance /Red Serpent of Sun

campestris agaricus placomyces agaricus subrutilescens agaricus
...What the hell? Is it just me, or have all the names been switched from Genus species to species Genus?

exactly my thoughts too ,i think Peele used the names as they appeared in the references ,but redserpent was looking for a list of med shrooms so i've been typing the names as they appeared in peele's book , i still think the information is a good starting point for further exploration and many have refs to well respected magazines and journals like 'mycologia' etc. so they are worth looking into imo. My guess is that someone using a searchengine would still find info on these species even when typed in reverse order Many mushroomspecies haven't been explored well , especially in the west and there is no reason to limit ourselves to the already commercially available species. Being involved in plantconservation I believe plants that are considered to be valuable to humans have a greater chance of survival than the socalled 'useless' ones. Most of the mentioned properties are of great value and could be helpful in treating diseases like cancer , tumors , hiv , etc so the info could be usefull to someone interested in finding a cure for any of these diseases

I might have to buy that book. That list is much larger than any I have seen for medicinal mushrooms. What percentage would you say were listed with dubious sources (like "chinese source" and a year)? Thanks.

But totally worth a bump to add absolutely nothing to the topic.
