CO ID Help Request
    #24533515 - 08/05/17 10:10 PM (3 years, 9 months ago)

Hello,

Tried my hand today at foraging a pasture for the first time. Seems like I might have done OK. I'll do my best to describe things but keep in mind I am brand new to all this.

Found these today in Teller County, Colorado around 9500ft above sea level, in a pasture where cows graze regularly. They were all growing directly from the soil, with grasses all about, and a few pine trees and aspens spread around.

Gills appear to be dark gray/purplish, I am working on a spore print currently.*EDIT*
Quick spore print:

Caps range from about 2-6cm in diameter, and are a light tan or golden color to light orange-ish.

The stems appear mostly hollow but have some meat to them, mostly white, with a sort of ring around the mid section and are 1-4cm long. I haven't noticed much color to bruised areas.

As far as a scent I would only describe it as earthy, or mushroom like.

These were very few and far between and not growing in clusters at all, it seemed.

Thanks in advance for any help identifying this.

They remind me of stropharia rugosoannulata but the cap color is throwing me off. Maybe a bit past their prime. If they were out in the open they could have also lost some color from the sun. Let's hope someone more experienced chimes in. It's probably some kind of agaricus at least.

I found something to help you. If they are indeed winecaps you really want to get those into your garden or yard. You can make a spore slurry and spread some around.
