iPod difficulties...
    #2453279 - 03/20/04 02:33 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

OK so I just got an iPod, and all I want to do is copy my MP3s from hard disk into my iPod with teh SAME directory structure. All my ID3 tags are fucked up and different so when I just upload them the only way I know how, the songs are completely disorganized.

Anyone know what to do?

Everytime I make an mp3 disk the same thing happens. I want to know also.

The iPod organizes songs based on ID-3 Tag, it doesnt keep them in any sort of directory structure but uses a database to locate the songs based on the ID-3 information. If your songs are not organized in your iTunes library, they will not be on your iPod.

Fuck! So that means I have to update the ID3 tags on thousands of songs...is there a fast way to do this, like, I can select 10 songs and give them the same artist and album names all at once? That would make my life much easier.

I had to do the same thing with my minidisc player. Everytime I made a disc, I had to fix the fucked up tags... it sucks.

Yeha, I spent hours and hours a few years ago organizing all my MP3s by file name...now I gotta go and fix the tags too, fuck. All so I can have an organized ipod.

That's exactly what I did the night before my iPod purchase. Just work on the tags for a few hours each day and you'll be done before you know it.

Remember, if you're editing the tags for an album, you can select all of the songs, and edit the artist and album all at once, instead of typing in the artist, album, and title for each file. Saved me hours when I found out I could do that.

Good luck, and remember, you're not the only one whose had to go through this.
