I've had some jars ready to knock up for several days now. Think I'll take of that here shortly

I work when the inspiration hits. But a lot gets done at night just because I seem to be more active then. Made a few transfers off of germination plates earlier today. Made some LC lids with syringe filters. Got a few poured plates left I'm probably gonna do something with here soon. Just got some cool stuff I want to play with.

This thread is perfect. It always seems so lonely at night here. My sleep cycle is pretty messed up so I'm always up late.

I ended up cracking the tray in my sgfc when I was moving the tray from the lining to a foil sheet. I filled the crack with verm and pushed the pieces together. It broke into 3 pieces but got it to heal back and have pins around the crack filled verm. I'm not sure how to to dunk it now. Just soaking it with my sprayer fine?
I dropped the same cake and broke it twice during my first grow. They do patch back together nicely. If you pick it up and it doesn't feel solid try bottom watering. Just make sure you don't have a puddle under it and remove any excess water that doesn't get soaked up after a few hours or you will get contams.

I've been doing all culture work here lately. Chasing clones, and germinating different species/varieties. Got a lot on my plates right now and getting ready to add some more. Hopefully, have some stuff ready to go to grain soon.

Just finished g2ging 15 shiitake quarts. still got 10 more to prep, cook, and g2g and then those fifteen will go into 28 bags or so and the other 2 jars will be further expanded. Hoping to have a legit little operation here shortly.
What does everyone do with spent shiitake blocks? Can they be used for cattle fodder? I mean, I know they are sawdust, but after they go through a whole fruiting process they have to be mostly myc right?

Very nice. Good luck on your shiitake operation. Different species of mushrooms that grow off of the same substrate sometimes use different enzymes from the substrate, so I am sure spent shiitake blocks can be upcycled in one form or another to a woodloving specie of mushroom that utilizes different enzymes from the same substrate material. That's how upcylcling/sequence growing works. I am just not sure at what point in an upcylcling sequence grow shiitake would fit. I bet King oysters would do well off of spent shiitake blocks, or possibly even an active, woodloving Psilocybe specie.

A while ago I read, here, some interesting speculation by Workman: "It appears that the Panaeolus colonized substrate is selective for cubensis colonization. This hints at the possibility of sequential use of manure based substrates."
I thought that was an interesting substrate upcycling idea.

Got a call from my landlord yesterday. He needs to come into my apartment today.
My midnight myco-work had me up til 5am. Packing my whole setup, and making it not look like a fungus farm in here.

Finally, a thread I can shitpost in
I do most of my serious SAB work at night.
I'm gonna aspirate some Agar Jars with Prepared 1% Dextrose water tonight. I was HOPING to use my 60ml adapted syringes but it turns out that regular store brand adhesive doesnt stick that kind of plastic to itself. So I am going to have to try something else, maybe hot glue? Any ideas? So I will use 20mlsX2 per jar this time round. I already have more LC than I know what to do with but what can I do
I got a batch of grain currently soaking so I'll just add more water tonight. gonna cook those up tomorrow nice and early, then noc them up with some B+ LC in the afternoon.
I seriously need more jars! but no one has stock at the moment. So I'm culling off my slowest grain and PF jars to make room for a new batch.
Sometimes I'll do myco work right through the night till the sun starts peekin through my window

so i got a 50lb bag of whole oats. it even came with a bunch of meal bugs in it. its that summer heat hatching those fuckers.
duct tape solves that problem. i found the solution. i seal the bag with duct tape and wrap a lawn bag around it tight. anytime i open it, i just make sure the grain goes right to boiling water so the meal bugs die quick.
if any of those bastards get away, use a piece of duct tape and trap them for death.
die meal bugs die!

I am doing some midnight mycology. I just cleaned some rye grain and will prepare some agar baby food jars so that I can do isolation work with few cubensis varieties. Maybe I will try to inoculate few agar jars again that does not seem to have germinated. I only used 1 drop of MS syringe.
