Even at 12 psi 45 minutes is pushing it. Wouldn't go past 40-45

dang, just learned alot! dunno how to measure the psi past 15. its a pressure cooker thats weighted, so when the weights begin shaking i know its at 15. but this will save me so much time in the future!!

Tape 25 cents to the weight and see where it lands

You won't be able to get an accurate read with the added weight then so I wouldn't suggest doing what I said

That is what I was worried about and I wouldn't suggest the extra weight. My presto has a gauge, but it is the Presto 01781 23-Quart PC. My weight is supposed to be 15lbs but if my burner is really high it will go 18-20! Hell maybe more but I always dial the flame in with the gauge.

I didn't have a problem with adding quarters to my old, gauge-less presto. just don't let it rock fast, keep the temp as low as possible to where there's still movement and you'll befine

So my grains did their gypsum and coffee soak and are on the burner for a quick boil. I confess I stuck my hand in the pan and let the wet grain run through my fingers because I liked the way it felt. Yeah I know I'm weird. Nothing new.

I confess I almost panicked because I thought my stirring wasn't good enough and I had turned my grain into sludge. It was just the gypsum that had sunk to the bottom of the pan. Also I confess I didn't take into proper consideration a colander with the right size holes. It looks like I am going to lose some of my grain. Good thing I made some extra.

This is so much harder than I thought it was going to be.

Can I store my grain jars in the fridge overnight since it's too late to sterilize them upstairs?

Also I may have accidentally poured too much gypsum in. Will it hurt the colonization?

Mesh strainers for the win!

I confess, I need to do myco work but I also need to get to know my wife in the biblical sense. I'm going to take the latter option.

Hopefully a little extra gypsum won't hurt the colonization on my grain. It came out so nice!  However when you do the math for 8 jars of grain and come up with 13 you know your doing the math thing all wrong.

I wish I wasn't so tired. I really want to PC them and put in my reishi and purple mystic clones before bed. Looks like the jars are going in the fridge till I can.

I've put mine in the fridge before PCing before because I knew I would wind up falling asleep. I've read you can do so but most don't recommend more than 12 hours so that the seeds don't germinate. I did mine after less than 12 hours with no issues.

I made too much grain last night as well, I left the other jars out for almost 24hours. No sproutage! I thought it was good to let them sit a little longer before PC because it gives and rogue spores a chance to start to germinate then kill them with the PC? IDK I might have just imagined that also. I am tired as well.

I had mine boiling for a few minutes so hopefully that will stop it from germinating. I did however learn these fuckers germinate fast. Just had my grain soaking for a little over half a day and I could see just the tiny tail end poking through. Luckily no full sproutage but damn close cause it's pretty damn hot.
