Monotub - should I mist?
    #24503976 - 07/23/17 10:16 PM (6 years, 8 months ago)

After a few weeks of colonization one of my tubs has no water droplets on the walls or lid. I just switched it to fruiting since it is fully colonized. There are plenty of really tiny water droplets on the surface of the sub but the walls are almost completely dry. My other tub has tons of water drops along the walls and is starting to pin. This is my fist mono so I'm wondering if I should mist and fan or just let it be. I appreciate the help.

How do you have the tub set up?

i just made a standard 66 qt latch lid mono using the bucket tek. The holes were duct taped closed during colonization. They colonized super fast with no contaminants. The one that doesn't have any water on the walls was sitting on top of a small table in the corner of the room so I am guessing the air flow from the air conditioning could be a factor. i should also mention I live in the desert so there is super low ambient humidity but I didn't think that should matter when everything is sealed up during colonization. My other tub was colonizing inside a cabinet (so it had less airflow and light) and it looks perfect. Already starting to pin with water on the walls and indicators of good FAE. It was started about a week before the dry looking tub. Any thoughts on whether misting is a good idea?

Water on the walls means nothing other than there is a difference between the temperature inside the tub and the ambient room temperature. Misting should be based off what the surface looks like, as in do you have small beads of water covering the entire substrate. Check out this Thread

Thanks explic, that link was super helpful. There is surface moisture, but they are noticeably smaller droplets than my other tub and doesn't look as wet as the pics in the link. I think I will give it a light misting and keep an eye on it to see if it starts to look more like the other one. They are now in the same room next to each other in fruiting conditions.
