I will definitely have to throw some straw in. I already have a full bale chopped up in my shed begging for some spawn lol.
I love wheat straw personally and used to use it exclusively as bulk for cubes. But these days I have a great hook up with a horse farm and I get all the field composted hpoo I could ever need. So I usually save it for my oyster cultures.

The other container that was a little slower to start the 2nd flush:

This seems to be a very hardy species that grows very easily, but slowly. Very resistant to competitors as well it seems. Those were cased on May the 20th. No signs of the green monster what so ever to this date.

Thanks again for the nice words.
I haven't tried them yet. I don't visit the psilocybin world much these days. I just love cultivation. However, I do want to try um sometime soon. And I hear they are quite potent. A buddy of mine says they are possibly stronger than pans (which if I do ingest psilocybin mushrooms, are my favorite to date). So I'm sure I'll give um a go at some point in the near future, to see for myself.
I just want to play around with them a bit to see if I can find a good isolate/clone to see what I get from them. An isolate that can produce canopies would be nice lol.

Update on these trials:
In my quest to find a good substrate, I chose to do mini grows in order to try as many different combinations as I have room for at the moment. I also am going for quick results, so I'm using LI into cake material and fruiting from 1/4 pint jelly jars. I am using the best clone that I took so all will be consistent. I am probably going to try many more variations and/or mixtures to see.
For this first trial, I am using BRF (as my grain source), verm and gypsum in all the cake material. My trial recipes are as follows:
1). Black Kow 2). Black Kow/Wheat Straw 3). Horse Manue Compost 4). Horse Manue Compost/Wheat Straw 5). Organic Compost from my back yard 6). Organic Compost from my back yard/Wheat Straw 7). Plain Wheat Straw

At the 7 day mark after inoculating, they all are colonizing very well.
Surprisingly enough to me, most of the substrates with straw are colonizing faster then the ones without (thanks LotKid for advising use straw). And the straight wheat straw is soaring past them all. The same amount of grain source, and LI were used here, and again a known clone that I have been working with a little bit. I guess it could be the fluffiness of the straw making a more airy and easier material to colonize at a rapid rate.
Obviously the vote isn't anywhere near in on the best substrate for this clone/species, but so far straw is kicking ass and taking names lol.
Straight straw:

Organic Compost/Straw:

Horse Manure Compost/Straw:

Black Kow/Straw:

I will update as soon as they start pinning. This will be a few weeks.

Whitethumb. Good to see you, bro.
I'm glad you stumbled upon this one too. This thread couldn't of happened with your very kind gesture of free spores! I owe you, brother man. I'm glad I'm working with them too. They really are a cool species to work with IMO.

We have lift off; 22 days after casing the first pin has appeared in one jar.

This is on the horse manure only jar. But I see pins forming along the sides of every jar, so now for the fun part lol.
I will update accordingly.
