Peyote typical questions of rot symptoms! please help!
    #24477242 - 07/12/17 07:14 AM (3 years, 9 months ago)

Hey guys,

I've been a long-time lurker in and out of this forum using it for it's abundant archives of cultivation info! It's only now I've come to register because I have a question concerning my 11-year old Peyote..

I've seen so many posts here and everywhere about symptoms of rot but I'm still not sure of clear signs and where to look for them.
He's been fine all the years I've had him in England but in the last year I moved to Spain and left him behind at my parents with the little advice I gave my mother about "watering sparingly". I visited last week and decided it was time to bring him to his better-suited climate, so carefully packed and just now repotted in the last couple of days, here he is looking far worse than a year ago when I left...

I've assumed myself that, the lower half having turned yellowish and gone much softer than the top, is suffering/has suffered from overwatering, so I've cleared the soil away from the top of the root and left him outside in the porch out of direct sun but getting up to around 27 degrees of warm, dry air through the days.
I don't intend to water him until I see and improvement...

Am I doing the right thing? I really hoped that some of you guys have seen/experienced similar issues and have some possible solutions, if not, just whatever knowledge you have could be a great help to both me and Pedro!

Thanks!
Jim

He's dead, Jim.

Sorry couldn't help myself.
From your pictures it doesn't look to bad to me at least.
But I'm not to experienced with Lophs on their own roots most of mine are grafted.

Welcome to the Shroomery
Hopefully an expert stops in soon to give you some useful information.

Its not rot. Like sharpie said it looks good. Very good actually. Sometimes the sun may xause that wrinkling. Or the tap wter does it some, times too. All my experience. But dont worry. Its totally fine. :datass:

I am just thinking that it might be a bit dehydrated is all. At first glance, it looks healthy. if its not squishy or orange, black, brown.. smell bad.. etc. . its probably ok. Lophs are pretty durable once past about 2 years or so. The soil side always tends to look a little bit more yellowish than the top. Just check for squishy tissue.
