no there are hundreds/thousands of people who have been here for years.
#1 way to get caught is people talking.. doesn't need to be telling but just talking...
dea operations are for money and assets, big amounts that recreational growers (98% of people here) (most likely) don't have.
-------------------- But if you're in a hurry, and really got to go If you're in a hurry, might have to find out slow That it's one thing to try and another to fly You get there quicker just a step at a time It's one thing to bark, another to bite The show ain't over till you pack up at night

You really only show up on the radar if you're raking in fat amounts of dough or your electricity bill is ridiculously high from like 500 CFL bulbs all running at once.
Just tell no one what you're doing and if you do, make sure they don't know your real name/where you live

Small time cultivators only go down by being dumb. Basically, you need to be on their radar to get busted, and getting on their radar happens one of two ways: (1) A lot of unexplained money that they can civilly asset forfeit into a office pizza and prostitute party, or (2) Openly flaunting the law and pissing them off. This usually means showing off, bragging to your friends, driving around with a "Fuck the Police" bumper sticker, selling out of your house at all hours...just generally being dumb.
(2) happened to a friend of mine a few years back (including the bumper sticker...idiot). He was never big time, I doubt he ever managed to grow more than a pound or two dry in total over the 4 months he was growing, but literally everyone who came over to hang out got an unsolicited tour of his grow op.
He got no-knocked at 4:30 am by the DEA. Now he's doing 5 years (some priors).
Keep yer mouth shut, and keep your money clean, and you'll be good.

Shroomery automatically strips EXIF data (thats what you mean by GPS) from photos uploaded to the site.
Although, a mod (I wanna say Lana) had a post here a little while back where they basically called people on being dumb with photo backgrounds. Brought up an example of some dude who posted his harvest and said he removed EXIF data himself before uploading, but there's a bill with name and address in the background.
Be careful with what's behind your object of focus.

Im not big on computers, But my understanding of EXIF data is its always their, 'removing it' just makes it more difficult to read not impossible.

Don't post grows on the internet, anywhere. Unless it's legal.

we have a certain member here with almost 35k posts who documents his grows and I haven't heard of any DEA busting down his door yet. they're going for big potatoes, people who make millions of dollars in cocaine/heroin (throw you in prison and toss the key in a stormdrain level offenses)
One person growing mushrooms in the comfort of their own home isn't really "big", even if they're producing a few pounds every week/month/however.
The only real problem I could see is regular police discovering it in their regular business, they would eat that shit up so 1. Don't talk 2. don't do anything to attract a police presense (no mega parties at your grow house, make sure your power extender is a good one that will shut down instead of cause a fire, etc. (I'm always terrified one of my CFL's is gonna get too hot and burn the place down so I bought a 40$ power strip that auto-shuts down) just basic shit to keep prying eyes away.
Also, you can always refer to your items as edible. there are people who genuinely produce edible mushrooms here.

Posting on the shroomery is really not a big deal unless you're posting large grows (which you have no reason to do). Like others said the real opsec comes into play with real world interactions. If any of your friends know what you're doing you're already fucking up. Regardless of what you plan to do with them never tell people you grew them yourself. Either claim you picked them or pretend you "know a guy".

So, succinctly, being stupid is talking to people about it in real life.
Do you guys think the 10% rule follows? Like if one person knows, you have a 10% chance of getting busted. If 5 people know, now you're up to 50%.
This is something I've been wondering about. What exactly constitutes being stupid?

Being stupid is telling anyone who does not need to know. Plain and simple. You gain nothing but an increased chance of being caught by telling anyone who does not have a genuine need to know. For example someone who lives with you would be someone who needs to know since their freedom is on the line as well and a friend you like to trip with is an example of someone who has no need to know. Tell people you bought them, picked them, whatever just never admit you grew them.

I think the 100% rule follows...If noone knows, your chance of getting caught are nearly zero. If one person knows, it rapidly and asymptotically begins to approach 100%.
