Grey looking stuff on bottom of cakes on first flush?
    #2446549 - 03/18/04 11:11 AM (13 years, 8 months ago)

It looks like cobweb but perhaps darker, a number of the cakes were affected. I first noticed when there was black looking patch growing near the bottom of the cakes, when I scraped it with my fingernail it just looked like verm underneith giving it that color, but on the underside of the cake the fuzz (myceleum like) was grey in color.

What is this?

I cut the bottoms of the cakes off and the inside looks good, it was just growing from the outside.

~thanks~

Has the first flush occurred already your are you waiting for it to happen ?
Anyway, if the flush has occurred already, then i'd say that just spores which felt from the caps and got attached to the cake. Not a problem in this case.

If you believe it's contamination, then try a h202:h2o solution dunk.
