what does cobweb do

and can mushrooms that look fine be eaten of a cake that had cobweb if they were picked after the cobweb was first noticed?

It tries to grow competing with the mycelium for the same nutrients and substrate. When ingested, cobweb itself, it's not dangerous for your life but things might be a little complicated if you are allergic to it. Also, intestinal adverse reactions might occur aka diarrhea.

Mostly, yes. But heavily affected cakes might not flush or even succumb to cobweb if not treated properly.

Well thats good to know,ive thrown away a casing full of pins before when it got cobweb,because i thought cobweb could make you sick.I sprayed with H2)2 solution,and it helped but i was afraid to take chances with the shrooms...I wish i knew then i threw away a Nice Flush!
