I theorize there wont be a single president after Trump that doesn't actively use twitter to connect to people.
They wont use it the same way Trump does, in a kind of attack mechanism, but will almost certainly use it to engage with people and comment on events as well as use it to incite changes and discussions.

Obama some-what used twitter but it was more pushing agenda and goals, marking national events but no real engagement.

I love that Trump uses twitter, for better or worse it really allows you to understand him as a person other people will be better at fabrication (looking at you Hillary) but even she has her moments.

Also loved Obama going on peoples podcasts, I think we could use more of personalizing a president rather than idolizing them as power figures.

Next step is voting online to fully modernize government and connect it to people.

god i hope not.  vote by mail is disenfranchising enough.

It would be alright to see a President do something like FDR's "fireside chats".  Maybe even with a call in format like  Washington Journal on C-SPAN

but that's not the point, i mean, to be intelligent...the point is to do what your constituents want, what they hired you for...that is, within the bounds of what's acceptable.

Obama didn't get much back-talk from HIS constituents for the constant interstate actions he was allowing, and they knew about. unlike those same people, when it came to Bush and his administrations war-mongering bullshit; which it was understood to be, at the time, by those same people.

Trump can be the biggest retard, but if he did what he was hired for, instead of going and firing missiles on Syria, by the way...because, by the by, no one wants to see an expansion into weapons production (save some few outliers), because people are already paranoid enough...yet Trump here giving money to Saudi Arabia may help combat ISIS in the region, it might backfire like it has in the past; that is, by supplying shit to terrorists.

i'm just saying, Trump could be just as hugely fucked as president as Obama, but yet, their intelligence does not separate them from that selfsame fact of fucking bombing in their perceived attempts to please their constituents, and/or honor their promises and their previous rhetoric concerning strategy, not to mention the social strata.

This is a moot point, because according to US law dating back to the foundation of the nation, everything that the President says or does is automatically preserved as a piece of national history. So, yeah, there are plenty of records to draw from, at least in the last 50-odd years. Probably from earlier too, I got better shit to do than read what Roosevelt had for lunch on some random Tuesday in the Library of Congress. I assume some records were lost when the White House (originally brown) burned down in the 19th century and was rebuilt.

Seems like most presidents, actually every single one in my memory, and with a few outliers like the guy that died of pneumonia seventeen days after being sworn in, had a pretty good grasp on what leadership required ahead of time. Might have been all those briefings outgoing presidents normally do that Trump is too smart for. Heck, I didn't like Bush very much and though he was a little slow, but by comparison his presidency is like Kobe to Trump's polio-ridden, anemic second grader. Even in the first hundred days.

Oh, and Trump has the leg up of a Republican congress. I think he is starting to learn the hard way that being a populist means that you're gonna end up with the rabid right (freedom caucus) and the moderate right at each other's throats, and that people love nothing more than figuring out ways to screw over each other whenever possible. Even if they're on the "same side" (by the way, nice healthcare vote last week! That was what, the third time they decided not to vote now? Afraid of losing? Man, that would be sad...I can see the headlines: "Republican majority repeals filibuster ability of democrats, filibusters it's own bill by not reconciling the rabid right and the normal reds!")

Come on man, Bush definitely commanded a fair bit of global respect. I would say maybe not quite the way that Obama's charisma commands respect, but he at least was respected as a president and leader of the free world. Nobody cut off a Bush cabinet member mid-sentence to cheers and applause, mostly because Bush and his cabinet were respectful enough of others that it was not necessary.
