Rage and Soundgarden were truly good bands. Audioslave is just like Chris with a backup band, none of the musical energy that Rage had, or the variety and dynamics of Soundgarden. My $0.02 anyway.

The Flaming Lips
Skinny Puppy
Swans
Faith No More and other Mike Patton bands
Meshuggah
Coheed and Cambria
All great, but there are plenty of *casual* music listeners out there who won't give them a proper chance.

Yeah, but most other music I listen to is probably either "acceptable" by others, or is just unknown to them.

Hell yeah man, Meshuggah is one of my favorite bands. Truly a unique metal band.
To answer the question, I get made fun of for alot of stuff I listen to as most of it is metal, mainly at my job. I'll have my CD player going and usually it's metal that is playing, not always, but most people give me a hard time about it. I don't care though, it's all in fun.
