what would you do...
    #2443921 - 03/17/04 03:29 PM (20 years, 1 month ago)

if you had a time machine? Firstly, I set the limit that you could not use it to make money (ie go back to some sporting event already knowing the result and bet tons of money on the team that won) or to change the course of history significantly (ie assasinate a president when he was 4 years old).

I would:
1)Visit Guatama Buddha and sit and talk with him
2)Visit Jesus and sit and talk with him
3)Visit Mikhail Bakunin and sit and talk with him
4)Go see the Dead at the original Acid Tests
5)Go see Charlie Parker before he got big and blew up
6)Go on tour with the Dead from 72-79
7)Buy a lot of nice acid from Owsley at cheap prices and stuff my pockets full of it

then I'd come back to this time and just think... (and of course not take any of that nice acid I brought back with me, because that would be illegal)

So what would you do?

Edited to remove incriminating evidence...

Exterminate Homo erectus.
I kid. Yay man!
I would check the world out before modern man, though. Like visit certain places to see if they used to look how I've imagined.

Oh shit, dude! Edit B* out of your post. Never mind, you misspelled the other word. Still, though, I'm sure misspellings are scanned for.

Go back to Woodstock, drop acid and listen to Hendrix. Then, if I had the chance, jam with him  As long as we're dreaming, I'll dream big.

I don't think I'd want to meet any relgious figureheads, unless it was to talk about how people invietablly miss the point of what they're saying. It would be interesting to see what Jesus would think of the world today (that's considering if he actually was a wise person and not just a myth or idol, but that's a different thread, huh?).

I don't think I'd want to go into the future, mainly because I might discover things I don't want to see, or become acustom to some amazing technology or such that I'd miss in the present.

Hendrix at woodstock & acid was the first thing that came to my mind. I had my best trip EVER listening to that cd.

Yeah I need to figure a few things out and I've been meaning to look into buddha. I'd probably go meet him and ask for some advice.

It's a longshot, but I'd try to stop marijuana prohibition from being introduced. I'd be scared about what would happen in the future... although if this time machine you talk about is magic and every outcome is the one I intend, then I'd totally be down for it.

I would go back to when I was born and start over with everything I've learned along the way.

Amen, Woodstock was the first thing that came to mind when I read the thread title.  Other than that, in my life I would go back and visit the happy moments, maybe fix some errors.  Meet people I want to meet,  go to shows I wanted to go to (as in bands I saw when I had little interest in them that became my favorite band after seeing them)

Eat shrooms and go visit the Buddha, definitely. Visit Edgar Allen Poe and van Gogh, though I hear both of them weren't very social. Visit Nietzsche. Go to an early Dead concert. Go back to when LSD and psilocybin were legal and order a shitload of it from Sanchez Company.

First, I'ld bitch-slap Nixon, then I'ld hang out with Kesey and the pranksters. After that I guess I'ld want to hang out with some curanderos(sp?). I'ld also want to talk with Jesus just to find out if he was broke-off enough to really believe what christians say about him, or if he was just a mis-understood genius with good charisma. Then, of course, I'ld stock up on shit-loads of pure factory grade LSD and bring it back for personal and spiritual gain.

I'd definately talk with Jesus and tell him how the bible could be written differentally to spread his message oposed to his fame(which christians think is all christianity is about... like you could kill but as long as you say you believe in Jesus you're allright). I would take a HOT ASS girl with me to cavemen just to see theire reaction. I cant think of anything else.
