I asked the manufacturer about those cheap-o mini storage containers and they said they're polypropylene, so they should hold up in the PC...lids might be kinda hard to remove one-handed with no tab, but for a buck it might be worth a shot.
They also make a 4 oz mini storage with the tabbed lid, pk of 8 for .98c vs the $2.57 for glad.

How do I know how much water to add so I don't run my PC dry. It's my first time using a pc. How high should I elevate the pasty plates from the bottom? I'm worried about them floating.

two or three inches will suffice. the longer you run it the more I would add for safe measure

I put a couple inches for plates in my AA921. I put 3 coffee mugs at the bottom half full of water then add the stacking plate it comes with on top. Then my plates. Bodhisatta has a great pc'ing post you should read.

I know they are rare. None of the vendors carry any APE. On some PE. Guess I could start there but seems like APE are popular and look pretty cool. I'm hoping a nice friend will feel generous one day lol

As rare as a unicorn. They simply cannot be printed. Best you can hope for is a swab or syringe.

Wellll shite...well I'll hope and dream for now then. I know they don't print well. 90 days will pass in just a few. I'm interested to see what the trading post looks like. I'm in no rush. I've been fortunate enough will everyone's help so far. Perhaps good fortune will show again in the coming months. Thanks for the heads up though

I've got ape spores in a 4 almost 5 year old syringe that I simply cannot get to germinate. Maybe I'll try them again soon. Need to get that variety in more hands.

I heard they don't make a lot of spores because they are such a mutated freak show of a cube.

They make spores but the ejection mechanism is what doesn't work. So the spores stay attached to the gills and won't drop. Which is why they can't be printed.

There is a few ways to do such things. Mostly over selfing is what is responsible for the broken spore mechanism in the penis varieties. APE is the product of crossing PE with pf albino. Workman is who made the APE. He basically got a monokaryon via streaking plates and then found an individual colony and confirmed it under a scope. Then colonized a jar of spawn then introduced spores from the other lineage. That meant that as soon as a spore germinated it was forced to mate with the already established monokarotic mycelium. This guaranteed a cross.
There are other ways of course. Here is the log of my cross. I currently have a 7th generation culture going right now.
