Hey Bodhisitta,
I've read this post and read most of your teks and I love the flow chart. I am a first time noob that had a successful harvest out of a all in one grow bag. Produced 46 grams dried from first flush soaked it for 12 hours and 4 days later got a 2nd. Have another one I just introduced FAE to and am waiting.
I know now that that isn't truly growing and I won't learn shit and also using spores that I'm rolling the dice so I want to go agar grain tub method but not sure I have the money or space to buy PC and jars because they're 130 bucks even the used ones are kinda high.
Question is for next grow if I go spores to agar and learn how to get it clean can't I drop it into sterilized grain? Then do your coir gypsum tek in my monotub? I guess its seems like alot I still need to make a SAB cause I didn't have that but felt like I was sterile but can't control what's in the air. That way I'm learning agar and substrate then learn pc grain next time. What's your thoughts? And here's pictures I'm pretty proud of myself or I just got lucky.

Been reading your instructions on setting up agar dishes and cooking the oats. Once everything has been "cooked" agar inoculated, oats cooked and prepared, how do you introduce the agar to the jars of oats? Just mix it in? And then, when the jar is good and busy, what is the best way to add the oats to the container the shrooms are going to grow in?

Very new to this cultivation process. My partner on the project is a total lab nerd, but we are both new to mycology.
I am hoping to receive some answers on drying methods:.
Freeze Dry vs. dehydrating method.
Looking forward to replies here!

Freeze drying is cool and works just fine but is just not realistic in the whole scheme. I had a Freeze dryer i used to make hash and it only held lik 4oz dry when packed up pretty good. And cost me like 2k. Where as a dehydrater can dry that much and cost $30. If you have a Freeze dryer and wanna play around it's fun but definitely not worth it in the long haul. They do look better though imo.

Should the flowchart be updated to include a water tub in addition to SGFC or monotub for fruiting?

Ready to harvest, how do you get it up to top like this? [Re: spuitzakje]

Real dumb newbie question here; In these pictures it looks like the whole base with shrooms is floating? When ready to harvest, how are you doing this? Do you fill the tub with water, cut your shrooms, and then pour the water out ready for next batch?
Can you explain please?

Magic.
Jk yeah some cultivators will pour water so the substrate floats up and makes harvesting easier. Never had to do it myself as it seems pretty pointless, but I guess it can make it easier to get side pins
Edit: also helps rehydrate the substrate. Some recommend pushing the substrate down to fully submerge it after everything is harvested. I guess I can see this method being necessary for particularly dense canopies and deeper tubs.

"Has anyone else noticed that the retail price of presto pressure cookers has almost doubled in the last 10 years? I bought my first 16 quart presto for like $70 and I saw them retailing on store shelves today for $150. It's insanity!"
Crazy right? Of course you can thrift stores and if you have old timers in your life like me, they've probably got two stored somewhere in the "treasure trove" (AKA hoarder's house). My father in law had three of everything...one for each daughter. Sometimes more. I have a friend who's dad died recently and there were multiples of everything one could need for a small village..P>

I bought a 22 qt TFAL off that infamous 2 day shipper on sale for $65.It held 15 PSI perfectly for me once set and I have no complaints. I keep seeing Presto mentioned around here too and I'm sure that one is fine too, but this one looked similar and was half the price.
