those 54q are the ones he uses, the 80q and 37q have two additional side latches, the 54q and 32q do not.

Hey Bod- or whomever can land a solid answer.
I have a new bin working and have a question about surface moisture.
I think I've a handle on what a well watered surface looks like, but I'm curious about evap time and ideal time between watering.
My sub was good going down, but I'm in super low humidity now and I fret without a RH reader, and I'm new.
I know allowing the evap period is good- they need to quench, and metabolize, and then thirst, and then rehydrate- so when is ideal to reload with surface hydration?
As soon as it's dry .25-.5" down, or after it's been dry longer? My sub's CV and depth is 3" in a non-Bod-bin.
Also, I estimate I'm 90-100% colonized, looking healthy, and moving to a consolidation period before fruits.
Or if someone knows where else I can post to grab the right attn, please advise.
Thanks Forum!

I suppose my real question is more: how do psil mycleium best respond to watering patterns as they develop?
Do they like to be very promptly refreshed, or does leaving them Thirsty for a period encourage growth?

How can I upload a video clip? The one I made with my Android phone is 31meg MP4. I searched, found one person advising an MP4 converter app and I found some porn. Otherwise I can't find the TEK.

Say I had a great flush and use a bunch of caps to make prints, can I still dehydrate those caps for later use after making prints?

Hey bod, really stupid noob question, once again.
In your easy Af teks you list 7q spawn, but you also say to fill the quart jars to 2/3. So do I need 7 of these jars 2/3 fill with grains?

In mycology quarts are never full so we're always referring to 66-75% full jars

I followed Bod's Oat Prep tek. I got 5 out of 9 jars are colonizing nicely. Others got contaminated or they didn't even colonize.
What is my next best step for spawning these colonized jars? I've tried a shotgun tub really long time ago but i didn't have success. I think the batch got contaminated in the tub. I just need a more or less guaranteed way to get something, I don't care about quantity. thanks all.

I'd mix em with coir in 5 separate shoe boxes, that way you have a better chance of at least one of the boxes doing the do. Likely all 5 will, if they made it this far without issue.

Hi Bod, I've been seeing great results so thanks for your input.
I'm colonizing grain quart jars, and they look clean. My concern is that some of the faster colonizing jars have fruits growing only at the top from the agar wedge, while colonization is only 50-80% complete. I have not shaken these at all and wasn't planning on it. But now that I see the fruits growing up top I'm thinking to shake so the myc recovers colonizing more of the grains before spawning to bulk.
So I am asking.. Is it best to shake it up to finish colonizing, or just leave it to finish colonizing with the fruits on top?

I'm obviously a noob trying to learn.. Which coir tek prep do you recommend? I found this for shoebox tek but it doesn't go into specifics how to make the coir. I found bod's tek but that requires a water dispenser. Is there anything more simple for coir prep? what do you recoo?

Coir prep is probably one of the least complicated steps I've seen...
Correct amount of coir in a container + Correct amount of boiling water poured over it + Time = Coir Prep
The purpose of that water dispenser/bucket is to have a container (preferably with a lid to trap the heat) in which the coir and (boiling is best but hot as you can get it) water can mingle for a while.. at least 10 minutes. So it doesn't have to be a bucket, just something that can hold enough coir and hot af water in it for a while.
Depending on the tek YOU use your goal is field capacity or just below FC. You'll have to do your own figuring to determine the best amount of water to start with. If too much then squeeze it out, if not enough add some. It's now ready for use.
Maintaining that coir, water, grain, myc mix for the duration of the flushes is another matter altogether. Some teks say fuck it and just see what happens..

Good morning Bod and all!
Excited to get started here, been researching and learning from the forums for quite a while, looking forward to contributing to the community as best I can.
I had run across the Brack and Kobel soft agar method (https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/7680529), which looked quite interesting with a serious scientific pedigree (including Hoffman on the patent) and noticed you closed a couple recent threads about it - you seemed to think it isn't very good.
Would you mind sharing more of your detailed thoughts about your reservations with this method?
Have you given this method a try yourself? What were your results?
Have you given the extraction and purification methods listed in the patent a try? Results?
Do you know of anyone currently active/available for communication in the community who would be willing to discuss this TEK (cultivation, extraction, and purification components) further?
If I were to go ahead and complete a run with this TEK, where would you suggest I post results? Do you think it could be a worthwhile and well received contribution?
Thank you for everything you do for this forum!
Kind regards, Doc

Is it possible to pasteurize coir in a modified or unmodified monotube? Skipping the insulated cooler part altogether?
Also if the insulated cooler is necessary how many hours at 170f of cooking that coir/pasteurization would be needed until its safe to dump into a monotub for the rest of the cooling?

You can pour room temperature tap water on coir and use it what's necessary is up to you and what you find works well. You can do just about anything to coir and get good results. I like to cook it with boiling water in a cooler if you want to try it that way that is how I do it. But feel free to experiment with coir as it requires no pasteurization
