Do most people get their SFD's from a sponsor, or are there better sources such as Amazon? Also, assuming it's being used on a spawn jar, do they last a decent amount of time?
Also, Bod do you normally leave the sfd intact or cut it into smaller squares/circles to get more out of each large sfd? I've read from some that cutting them can affect their integrity, but I've never seen anything to support that

Was hoping you could tell me if this HEPA filter and blower would work together for a flow hood. Also I was wondering if I understand things correctly that I can run this blower with the 230V we have in Europe?
Blower data sheet. (The blower is Dayton 1TDU1) http://www.electricmotorwarehouse.com/content/Dayton/blower_specs/ITDU1.pdf
HEPA filter 24x24x6 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Flanders-Filter-P-007-C-04-00-NU-12-13-GG-F2U5-Air-Conditioning-Filter-Actual-Si/133074131028?hash=item1efbd61854:g:6LAAAOSwcfVc9q48
Thank you bod, I really do not want to order these items if they do not work together.

Alright, but that has about 1000 CFM @ the 0.75" WG of the filter. I thought for a 24x24" HEPA you wanted about 400 CFM at the filters WG? Im I wrong about that info or is it just OK that the blower is a lot stronger then that?
I that we aim for 20% "extra" CFM not 100% like here. Please correct me here Bod
Edit: How do I know if I can use a speed controller on this specific motor or not? If I do not have to I do not want to have to order that aswell but I was hoping that could be a solve.

None of those blowers should be used with a speed controller.
0.75+0.2 for prefilter is .95 plus any future clogging. That blower drops off fast above 1" resistance you want something that cant work the life of the filter. 100% bigger isn't a problem at all i should say at least 20% but if the next size up is "too strong" you can choke the intake or stack prefilters or both

Im getting 160-180 f/m on my system and the anemometer is too shitty to work at less than that(lesson learned) I have a controller but can judge it till I get a decent gauge. You think these speeds will work?

Alright, got it! Well I trust your judgment so I will go ahead and order those parts next week. (excited)

Do people use a specific filter as a pre-filter or just anything similar to this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/30x60-cut-to-fit-Filtrete-Hammock-Filter-by-3M-1/401839217812?hash=item5d8f7bdc94:g:RgsAAOSwfVldSUsJ
What do you mean with "choke the intake" ? Does that mean cover part of the intake with something?

Got it! Restrict the intake until the bic lighter flame is bending like many TEKs mention

Edit: Do I understand this correctly, when it says on this filter penetration .00400%
that is has the efficiency of 99.99% that we are looking for in a HEPA?
Filter in question: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Flanders-Filter-P-007-C-04-00-NU-12-13-GG-F2U5-Air-Conditioning-Filter-Actual-Si/133074131028?hash=item1efbd61854:g:6LAAAOSwcfVc9q48
before you said the with the blower Dayton 1TDU2 I should or could not use a motor speed controller.
Why is that? Does it not work with this motor or is it just a bad idea? Im asking before we talked about if the motor is to strong for my filter I restrict the intake with more prefilter or a restriction plate. I just think if it was possible with a speed controller it would look a lot cleaner the having to put say 3-6 filter in a row before the intake.
Might be because English is not my first language, but this quote from you made me confused. We talked before about adding more prefilter if the blower is to strong, but arent you saying here that the prefilter IF before the intake wont slow anything down?
Quote:
bodhisatta said: If the filter is before the blower intake it won't add any resistance unless it's choking the intake from receiving as much air as it does without the intake filter. Most intake filters are not choking the intake, they flow more than enough to not cause any resistance to intake volume.
If it's on the output side but still before the hepa filter it adds resistance.

Yes that filter has 0.004 penetration. But doesn't create laminar flow. Its just a fancy furnace filter.
A speed controller works but its bad for this kind of motor, it specifically says in the motors manual not to use one too.
If your prefilter is before the intake of the blower and doesn't restrict the flow of air into the blower it doesn't add any resistance

Alright I got it. Im really sorry for keeping attacking you with all my dumb question Bod. But really want to be sure before spending all this money.
I been looking around since we talked last and I think (and hope) that I finally found a filter and blower that will work perfectly together.
Sorry if I bother you again.
I took your advice and looked around some more. I think I finally found the perfect match. If you do not mind please take a fast look.

Sorry that its not in CFM or W.G
Here is a quote from Anno "So if you use the above filter with 1"(250Pa) static pressure and a furnace prefilter with a static pressure of 0.2"(50Pa) your blower must deliver 200 cfm(340m3/h) of air at a static pressure of 1.2"(300Pa)."
at 1.2 W.G (with pre-filter) the blower would deliver 300 CFM approx.
Oh and I only do about 10 bags every month, shouldnt be a big problem with a 12"X24" Flow hood right? I seen RR use a "small" flow hood doing bags in his videos, thought I make sure.
Thank you!

If I'm dropping in a medium sized agar wedge (around 4 per petri), what's roughly the longest it should take to 30% colonization before I start to worry about a contam causing the myc to slow?

I’ve done several tubs and I continue to get side pins and they mycelium pulls away from the side of tub. The cake shrinks. Am I not packing the substrate tight enough? I thought I was using too much water because the over all cake is flimsy but why would it shrink? How do I prevent side pins and achieve a firmer cake where I can fill the tub up with water to harvest?

What all edible, or bioluminescent mushrooms can grow in a monotub? And would using wax paper on the bottom and up the sides for grops work to pull the whole substrate out work? I dont have access to a indoor hose or syphon so cant use it to float the mushrooms up for harvesting. Thanks for all of the great info I've been reading it and will use your guides instead of getting a store bought grow kit.

Besides reishi mushrooms grown for antlers not really anything I can think of that would do well in a monotub that's non psychedelic.
