Thanks. So I'll stop misting (there are droplets on the substrate) and fan a bit more. But if it looks fine then I'll just wait and see. Once again, thank you!

:whathesaid:
My first PE tub popped out a single cowboy looking boomer.
The nxt one about 40 grams of stubby little bastards looking like maggots when dried.
The last 105qt tub of learning experience gave me about 5 pins that aborted... All cuz of subs that were over field capacity. Way over actually.
I feel i have also observed first hand MS pumping out genetically short fruit. For myself, correcting field capacity and dialing in FAE was the rosetta stone, if you will, for maximizing genetics. The MS that these shrimp shrooms i have came from is apparently limited in highth of fruit.

Field capacity in what sense?
I never had problems with APE, though.

I have some fully colonized BRF cakes that I was about to move to my chamber when a friend suggested trying a monotub.  I like your monotub tek and am going to give it a try.  Would you add sterilized, cooked oats to the coir and grated cakes?

Thanks for the help.

well I cut a few holes and taped them and the bag dried a bit. It just started showing little pins- about 4 that I can see. Just wondering if there should be more moisture than what’s showing, it’s been 3 weeks today.

And I had a 1/2 pint cake that was dunked and rolled and sat in a bag for 10 days in cool temps that I then grated into a 1/2 pint of pasteurized coir. That thing has colonized faster than the horse poo sub did , we’ll See. This seems dry too though with no moisture up the bag past the sub? Bag too big for that small amount? Medium size bag. I mixed it a week ago. Thanks for any comments!

Side note: about me.. I had been thinking about getting into cultivating for several years and never pulled the trigger until now, I hunted for the first time this past fall after starting to feel desperate about finding some medicinal mushrooms, as I found them to be awesome. But while learning and reading about habitat I discovered how good GA was for hunting. I grew up in Roswell, GA working landscaping! I vividly remember seeing big clusters in the grasses and EVERYWHERE. Blowing leaves into the islands and covering them. Lol It’s crushing. We always thought you could only find the good ones in south GA.  Any help on the bags would be huge but I’m now seeing how these guys decide who they bless with their presence. They’ve only found me I’d say 5 times. But best to appreciate what they are and what they’re capable of before discovering cultivation and having an ample supply. At least for impulsive people like me! This site is amazing and seeing the huge age range of people who are by all accounts experts is pretty amazing. I’ll wash more balls for good advice. Sincerely

Nothing in your formula except pasteurized coir and your grated cake?

Just the verm that I covered it with. I was gonna toss it because the inside of the cake was like a light mahogany brown and shiny. Smelled strong mushroom so I mixed it. The first two bag pics are a horse manure straw 3 weeks and the small one is coir I mixed a week ago. Funny I was concerned about the moisture the last couple days but just got home and it was full of condensation. I hope that’s good for me!

I hope these white dots turn to pins and aren’t contams and that the little ones already forming aren’t a bad thing

Is there any way for us to reorganize the threads in our list of threads; so that a selected handful cud be held in a double bracket and the rest can refeed at will below?

Just found Shroomery today.  Unbelievable!  Thank you sir for the information and flowchart.  I have found THE subject matter expert and will get started on my education today.  Again thanks to all for the work done to help us new to mycology.

Now I just need a 100 post to unlock the full potential of this site....

Thank you again.

Does anyone here bother making a seal with rtv on the inside of their plastic storage caps? Seems like a waste of time to me but what the hell do I know.

Hey! Hope all is well Bod!
I was wondering is you think this 4 different jars of APE (oats) looks ok?
To me they look a little bit off. Maybe it's just that I never grown APE before and the mycelium looks a bit different?

Oh and do I remember correctly that APE and PEs grows a bit slower in grains?
These jars were inoculated with agar 13 days ago.

Thanks:takingnotes:

Information on what temps you do currently have and what mushroom spores you are using would be good information to share:wink: can take up to 3 weeks for a lot of different spores.

Hey I'm new to shroomery and new to picking by myself. I'm traveling around the SA coast and am in port Lincoln at the moment. We have had a fair bit of rain and  keen to go on the hunt just asking if there is a thread here that will have some "estimations" on where is best to look here or if there is a thread specially dedicated to this year's SA mushroom season? Will be heading past mount Remarkable and back to Kuitpo forest in the next few weeks so I've heard they're pretty good locales. But heard Kuitpo might also have been sprayed. What does that mean? Does that mean they won't grow there or that if they do they're are toxic to eat? Thankyou guys and sorry for being such a noob to this haha

Don't look bad, did u shake them recently? PE should colonize the same speed. Longer to fruiting
