Hi. Quick question. Most of the older PF tek I read says to use 1cc in total per pf cake. But here a newer one which I trust more says he only uses 1-2 drops per hole?
Link: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24179086/fpart/all/vc/1 Do you agree with that being enough and if so why did people before use so much when Its not needed? Talking about a spore syringe here. (Vendors telling people to use a lot I Can understand, they want you to buy more syringes.)
Also, how come we always hear that spore syringe to grain is a big no no! While it seems to be standard when it comes to PF? Is PF less prone to contaminant?
Thanks

He already told you it looks super wet. Do you have more grains?
If so, do it again. Do not think those will preform very well if at all.

Hey Bod. A friend here at the forum told me that a APE spore syringe from a vendor and a APE swap from say the market place would not be a "real" APE, it would be different.
If you understand my bad english and what my trying to ask (how are they different and why) could you please explain to me?
Thanks

Thank you for clearing it up. Did not make any sense to me why the would be different.
Edit - He said that the swab from say the market place would only give 'leucistic' mushrooms and not 'true' albino APE.
Question 1: oh and another question I been having just came up. I got a stir plate for LC. I read some where that you can/should CONSTANTLY stir it on a medium to low setting, around where there is barely a dimple on the surface of the LC. Is this true and should you start to stir it right away with both spore inoculation and agar wedge or should you let it 'recover' for a day or so?
Question 2: What is you view on sealing bags before PCing them? I done it twice with success but maybe it's a bad idea. Just because it worked a couple of times, doesnt mean it's a good idea. Would like to hear your thoughts on the matter.

Alright. Thought you might still know, even if you do not use bags or stir plates yourself.
Thanks anyway

Hey Bod! Hope you are well?
Question: I got one of there and I always had it inside my SAB and used it to wet my paper towels INSIDE the SAB. Is that ok or does it stir around the air to much?
Feels like moving my arm in and out of the SAB over and over would be worse but what do I know?

Hi Bodhisatta
I got a few half pint jars laying around and was going to do some BRF cakes for fun. Question: My lids are all grain jar lids with sfd and ship. My question being, shouldnt be a problem using these without the verm layer right? And simply inject in only one place (Middle) or simply spray the spores around the sides of the substrate?
Hope you are all well!

Hi Bod. Just made some oats yesterday and I got a thought. So I PCed the grains yesterday for 1.5h with foil on top. Will use my agar plates today to inoculate. My question being, since I haven't opened the PC, is it acceptable to transfer the grain jars straight from the PC to my SAB then ONLY removing the foil without wiping them down with ISO?
In my mind they should still be extremely clean# especially under the foil. Please correct me if this is "bad form".
Thanks!
PS: Testning to fruit a brf cake with your ziplock bag tek for fun currently.

Hi Jake, nice to see you around here! Since you are here I would be interested in here you take on this also.
So, I know pasteurizing should be 1-2 hours at 140-160F and if you go over 170F for more then about 10 min, it might be a good idea to toss it at start over. Might be a bit dumb but since I have pros around here like you Bod I would really appreciate you comment on this. I think I found the perfect settings on my stove to keep the temp where I want it, im your curious if you think this is too close to 170F or if maybe you would read is as 170F.
Thank you for your time and help like always

Isn't that what I'm using now?
Only have 1 more and I know for a fact that one is not correct so guess I will borrow from a friend and test it next to this one, but right now I was asking for what you guys would say its currently reading and/or if it should be fine?

Hi Newtomyc, looking good there!
Hi Bod, I hope you are well? My question for you is.. I just put a 50/50 casing on my first Tamp trays 1/4 inch and also a casing layer on 1 shoebox of cubensis 1/2 inch thick, my question being. My casing was 65% moisture content and 7.5 PH, Should/do I need to mist my casing layer since I know I had the correct moisture content to start with? If so, how much should I mist my casing layer? Last thing I want to do is flatten it out by over misting?
Thanks for everything Bod
oh and secondly, for how long can I keep pasteurized casing around? Got 1 quart left from yesterday and some grains I was gonna case, but the grains needs 2 more days, maybe 3. Will it stay good for that long? Maybe you know for how long in total?

Ofcouse wait for Bod to answer. But I think I could ask you a few thinks that would help Bod out when answering your questions.
I see straw. Did you pastrurize your substrate? What is your substrate made out of? When you say Its been colonizing in cold temps, how cold?
Also, incubating in darkness is outdated information. Mycilium benefits from light (12/12 on/off) at all stages.
Best of luck to you

Hey! Hope all is well Bod! I was wondering is you think this 4 different jars of APE (oats) looks ok? To me they look a little bit off. Maybe it's just that I never grown APE before and the mycelium looks a bit different?
Oh and do I remember correctly that APE and PEs grows a bit slower in grains? These jars were inoculated with agar 13 days ago.

Thanks
