Yes very good yields on oyster. I think GrOwer has dabbled with as much as 50% supplement.

Yes, poorly. Oysters require large amounts of FAE...without it, the fruit will grow long with tiny caps.

Not with any quality at all. You would be better off to just open air fruit them.

King oysters will do ok in a mono tub. Other oysters will stretch and produce much smaller caps than normal. Unless you manage to get constant fresh air into your mono tub, or have enough holes, not ideal.
If you absolutely have to do a mono tub then go ahead, else id try other setups.

Yeah, i would think kings would do fine as you're trying to promote stipe growth as opposed to cap. Like Quadman said, open air fruit them if you must...I was going to suggest a bag grow with slits cut in it...you could use any type of bag that you can stuff pasteurized substrate such as straw into.

I'm looking to start my lions mane and reishi projects soon. I'm still researching and collecting materials I will need. I'm picking up a few bags of hardwood fuel pellets today. Will I need any hardwood mulch, and if so, will this work?

it can work but it wont be as fine as fuel pellets. it may slightly reduce yields due to smaller surface area. A guy on youtube called: what the fungus just switched from mulch to pellets. he may make a video soon explaining why pellets is better. But from a cost standpoint that shredded mulch is a great deal. I pay like 8$ for 1 bag of fuel pellets. so even if your yield is less youll be able to just fruit more and longer.
try not to get dyed mulch.

Thank you. I try searching for good info but I'm not having much luck. I see people fruit lions mane from bags in green houses, but I'm not doing it from a commerical standpoint. Just a family fun project. Can they work in monotubs? Are there any good grow logs on lions mane that don't involve bags on a shelf?
Just picked up 40 lbs bags of pellets for 5.59 each

lionsmane wouldnt do well in a monotub I think although I have never tried. my only experience is fruiting on the side of bags. they can be fruited out of the top of something too. I have seen people grow them in jars.

Just spawned a few more bags of the nebrodensis. Turns out the company producing these guys called them "summer trumpets". They're definitely a warm weather fruiter. I'll probably try to spread this around to those interested once I see what it does. Also, getting ready to do a reishi run....this 8# bag of spawn should be ready in a day or so. Thinking of 1/4# spawn per 2# bag of HFP with 30% bran. Thoughts?

I'd make them 6lbs bags- 2 will probably cut yourself short. I do 16lbs bag of spawn to 8 6lbs supplemented sawdust bags.

Right on; Thanks, TA! I'll probably end up somewhere in the middle...I wanted to see how low I could go on spawn with a high sup percentage and still produce a decent yield. Two pound bags with a 1/4 pound spawn did seem a bit iffy.

I'd be willing to bet 1 6lbs grain spawn bag could do 16 sawdust bags. I'll try that out when the steam sterilizer gets built.

Here's a summer trumpet nebro block before casing. I wasn't really prepared for these to be ready to go so soon. Oh well!
