I grabbed the culture from mycelium emporium, it's labeled as a commercial culture so it should fruit well. I've yet to be disappointed in any of his other commercial cultures.

I think it was like 25 bucks.

Straw Shiitake.  I haven't run the King Blue.  Black Pearl though, which is a fun winter grow!

Thank you!

I ended up buying one of these puppies which fixed any and all problems I had. Simply put the hose in the tub and let it run every hour for 2 minutes on medium speed.

Thinking of getting a Martha too with this success!

This boy took over the whole jar yesterday
It's pink oyster do you think it's time to send it or should I let it get a bit thicker first?

Maybe one more day.  They're definitely close, if not done.  And letting them go to long, they're very aggressive and can be hard to break up.

I miss growing pinks, they're superfast!  Even if they're not my favorite oyster to cook with, they're exciting.  I might do some this summer.

Oh I guess I should mention too this is sawdust
I plan on trying to fruit it in the jar to test different variables in my room for humidity and FAE
I got a bunch of others too but this one is just a bit earlier than the others

What culinaries can be simply floured and fried with a light finish similiar to Morel's?

This is fascinating.

What substrate are you using?

If you want nicer fruit (larger tender caps, shorter tough stems), those'll need a lot more FAE. Not sure it's possible to get enough in a tub without pumping air into it.

I think you'll get nicer fruits in open air as long as you can frequently mist them.

Cutting a slit on the side or bottom and folding the bag over instead instead of stop fruiting also encourages fewer, larger clusters, which is nice for harvesting.

I'm using maple hardwood pellets, and maybe 10% wheat bran.
I know they like a lot of FAE, I'm just trying to keep fungus gnats away from it.
This is my awful looking set-up, I'm re-using my SAB just because I didn't want to put holes in a new tote.

The humidifier comes on a couple times an hour for maybe 20 seconds, and the fan will turn when its over 90% humidity.

So Im wanting to get into growing gourmets such as Oysters. From my research, Ive found that Oysters can grow on PF Tek.

I was thinking of doing a PF Tek with fuel wood pellets mixed with BRF, maybe at a 50/50 mix ratio? If I do this PF Tek mix, do I need a PC or can I just steam-sterilize?

You could likely steam sterilize. Some people have gotten away with bucket teking fuel pellets. I never have. Tried, but the shit went green on me.  But maybe my spawn wasn't that clean?  I was reading a paper last night where they were using vinegar to pasteurize fuel pellets too.

Anyway they are pretty clean, I haven't tried with your suggesting. But I think it would work.

Cool, thats some great info!

It sounds like it could be risky with steam sterilizing fuel pellets. I will take this into consideration
