Hey fam!

Wondering if these will do for hardwood bags? They are compressed HW SD logs. I assume they were heat treated. Lipa tek it?

also i found a discarded plate of piopino that i had sitting in a box. time to clone!

ahem...cough cough pls help

Logs like this aren't ideal for lipa tek because they take so big/dense and too long to hydrate. Add water to field cap, try 1:1.25 log:water by volume, then add supplement like bran, alfalfa/ beet pulp, spent coffee soy hull pellets etc.

Then bag and sterilize it.

Haha idk. Just because I don’t really intend on investing much time or money right now into this as a hobby. Once I have the time to get back into production i will buy the things I need. For now it’s just a cover for my actives

Tyvek USPS bags so the whole thing is a filter???

Only thing is, with any homemade filter bag they need to be autoclavable if you're doing supplemented substrate (which is the only time you need a filter). Pasteurized sub can be in any container, any bag, no filter needed. Gas exchange holes are necessary but no filter material.

That’s good to know. I am supping with alfalfa pellets so I don’t sterilize.

Back after a looong hiatus.

I've got about a dozen cultures sitting in the fridge since 2015. Slants with wooden icecream sticks in them.

It's been eight years. The fridge was fully operational the full time. Any similar experience anyone?

Do you think they are still viable?
I'll post pics later today. They are mostly shiitake and various Pleurotus sp.

I found a thread or two with a similar theme, but nobody brought theirs to fruiting from what  I've seen.

cheers

you could always try, I have no experience with cultures that old... but I have revived cultures from old plates that have dried out...

on another note, I will no longer be using the 75x's to run substrate blocks.... finally got around to building a 50gal steam "sterilizer", got my test run of bags in it now... if I remember correctly 24hrs @0psi is sufficient for sterilization?

having the steam sterilizer should make life a lot easier for me.... it will definitely be more efficient, and take less time to run more than I normally can in 3 days

Not sure where I have this info from, but TTs really seem to grow very well when the humidity cycles between high and low. This fruit developed in like 2 weeks or so. It's got mold unfortunately. I'll just dump the entire thing out of the bucket and try to fruit it that way, which hopefully will work.

I've tried cloning wild TT several times with no success.. only ended up with mold every time

on another note can anyone point me in the direction of a decent hygrometer for inside my greenhouse? I've used the cheap ones from zon, and they shit on me out pretty quickly
