Is that a shiitake in a shoebox? I like that idea, how are the harvests for you? I've found shiitake really love to colonize the sides of my blocks, too, so wonder how this affects the BE.

So I made a few differnt size  wine cap garden plugs for a friend. The squares are pints. The "biodegradable" fabric pots are 1 gallon and also did a 3 gallon that i didn't snap a pic of.
16#HWFP + 2 dry gallons of verm
4 gallons water
5# wine cap spawn

What do you guys think of this idea. When they are colonized I can tell him to plant them wherever there is decent moister/agricultural debris.

Idk which Shiitake culture this is. Got it randomly from someone on here a long time ago. This stated fruiting in that container when it was covered. I uncovered it after that and left in open air, giving it a cold shower several times each day.

Anyone around ever grow lentinus tigrinus?
Curious if they have the same tendency to want to grow off the sides as shiitake. Or if top fruiting will be good?

Instead of using filter patch bags can I use other bags with poly and zip ties?
Supped HWFP with alfalfa pellets so no need to sterilize. Fruited in a tent

good morning' happy Sunday, have a 15 years old RR quote- :hi:
:coffee:

Pleurotus ostreatus prefers temps in the upper 30's to around 60F. If your temps are 30's at night and 50's day, it's perfect.  Those are the exact temps I grew this laundry basket at.
RR

So night time temps in the 30s @ night = freezing substrates.

Anyone out there running oysters in these temps? this is basically my exact situaton right now. I moved my martha outside for airflow. The only problem is I don't want to leave the humidifier full over night if it can still freeze/ crack.

Have you considered an aquarium heater?  Easier than trying to rig up a PID for this seasons last cold front. I suppose that would only work with a diy humidifier though

Yeah I have had a few over the years. It looks like my last one bit the dust. Good ones are like 45-65 bucks and I cant drop that on another one right now. I do have a suvet and a metal pot  Whats a PID?
My plan atm is to just take the humidifier in when temps are gonna drop below freezing. The six blocks I have in it got down to 28F last night; they are sitting at 57 right now.
I have another 10 blocks that will be moved in this week.

As you may know I have never intentionally grown gourmet/outdoors but in my backyard Oysters don’t start growing until the 30s start turning into the 40s but they are out there growing happy in that wet cold!

Hi,

I am looking for advice for my Lion mane

I open the bag and put it in a water tub, I make it breath few time a day. I feel like it's not growing at best condition.

Thanks for your help.

It needs way way way more fresh air. It can't be in a tub. Just sit it out in the open air and mist it a few times a day

My understanding of PIDs, at least in regards to cult is that they’re used for monitoring/maintaining conditions (temp,rh,etc)

Yeah if you wanted something more permanent for the winter months I’d add a pid and water heater element. But taking the humidifier in at night is probably the way to go since you wouldn’t need it in a few weeks anyway

I grow Lions mane currently in 60F temp and it seems ok. Can it be grown in 65-68F without sacrificing quality?

Yeah. Just keep the fae up as its more susceptible to bacteria in warmer temps and keep the humidity up to match, there are some LM strains that perform well up to 80f.

As I read or see somewhere for some Oyster reducing the temp will slow the grow a little bit but give you better quality mushrooms.

Best way is testing identical grow in both condition.
