Turkey tails forming pillar-like structures. I assume in nature they use them to break through the bark so they can fruit. Cool stuff.

These pinkies got tossed in a blend of olive oil, garlic salt, chicken salt and pepper. Chucked into the oven at 175 degrees Celsius for 12 mins.
Crispy with a chicken like texture π

Could easily eat a whole bag of these mmmmm

I plan on investing into a full tent and everything eventually, but I'm just starting my dive into gourmets. What would you guys recommend when it comes to a cheap/effective fruiting chamber? Something I can fit acouple lionsmane fruiting blocks into.

For LM, a $40 martha tent is the best resource. You can mist it by hand with a $10 fine mist sprayer or $40-90 on a humidifier with extendable hose and a $10 interval timer. A $10 USB powered fan with the door cracked at the bottom will provide sufficient FAE to keep your LM quite happy for minimal investment. Just harvest before teeth start elongating.

Hi everyone! I'm new to gourmets and my wife would like to grow some lions mane using 5lb master mix bags I'm making for her. I took a clone from a grow kit that was producing nice flushes. So now that I have my clean culture on agar and I have made a sslc (semi solid liquid culture), I have a question about inoculating the bags. Do I need to use grain or will the sslc work fine by itself? I ask because when I received the kit there was no grain at all in the bag and it seemed to grow as if it was inoculated by liquid culture. I also see other kits with a LC syringe and a bag of bulk that says just shoot this into the bag and grow mushrooms.

Grain tends to act as the main nutrition source for master mix blocks. Those processed pellets and soy hulls have some, but I wouldn't expect it to be enough to get a decent flush. You could toss in grains when you make the blocks and use your LC, but I find it's easier to send LC to grains and then add the colonized grains to the block.

You're thinking like a cubensis grower. Masters mix has more than enough nutrition. Soy hulls are really high in nitrogen. You can use sawdust spawn or lc to inoculate bags and get great flushes

Ok. Maybe I'll run half with just the sslc and half with oat spawn and see how they differ. I just want to make the wife happy and maybe she will get into the hobby as well. I would hate to have a failure for her first try at it and discourage her. Happy wife, happy life, right!

So I got two myc-syringes with Ganoderma lucidum and Cordyceps militaris. My plan was to check on Agar if those syringes are clean. If they turn out clean, would you guys/girls prefer to inoculate more LC with the syringes or would you just expand it from the clean Agar culture to more LC and only use the rest of the syringes to inoculate the grain/sub`?
Edit: not used to using mycelium syringes or LC's ^^ so I might ask maybe a stupid question, I just don't want to waste those

If you have experience making lc I would expand it that way after you know itβs clean on agar, and just reuse the syringes when they get empty. Use SHIP lids or bags for knocking up grain/rice
