Cheers for the info Ed, I was thinking of going to grain jar first then to something else like a bag or summit. But then again I might just experiment with a few other methods and give the bottle tek a try or even tweak it a bit and do like a shoebox version of the bottle tek...need to research...
Anyway, I’ve just ordered my filter for my flowhood and it’s the same one you got, gonna get the blower next

Masters mix is a decent substrate for any oysters. Talking to caps he uses all his spent cubes substrate as sterilised sub for edibles and said its as good as anything hes tried. How About that as food for psychedelic thought......

Other than the condensate (which I hope is temperature changes, differences), growth looks good. If you can manage seed over naked grain, use seed instead, it's better overall.
Even cotton seed hulls (shells) can enrich a media, like bran.
----
Any tek suitable for oysters is fine, KO tolerate more CO2, although it's not strictly good for them. They tend to grow vertically up, so any horizontal fruiting area is suitable for them.
Once you have a substrate you can work with, try fruiting them outdoors.

Yeah most of my plates have condensation blank ones too as I’ve not quite sorted out temperature changes as pouring agar inside sab not much room to get hot water on top of plates plus keep plates in a warm airing cupboard as my house is cold most of the time. Don’t like using the gas if I don’t have too!
I’ve got a load of millet which I want to use up, yeah I was wondering if fruiting outside would be the best bet too.
Where do you get your bran from? I’m Uk as well btw

Just Google around, but you can try here (20kg less for than £8), 40kg + delivery is just under £30. Here is another site with similar pricing, although the delivery might be cheaper.
----
I actually don't use bran with oysters, I use WL-Tek, wood and paper pellets (50-50). Ultimately you want wood + nutrients (notably nitrogen), see here.

No, I have never grown Reishi, although I have thought about it, there's various types of wild ones around me. I like oysters for my IBS, I also have ADHD, IBS + hyperactive metabolism = bad days.
Try Quadman, He has grown Reishi and should be able to help.

been surprised at how quick my shiitake has been since it hit wood. spawned 12/21 and it seems like it's already rife with popcorn - the bag has been stretched so taut by the expanding blisters in some places I'm a little worried it's going to split open. However this seems super premature, only 16 days. I wasn't planning on putting these in the FC for another month. am I looking at a possible contam? should I ride it out in the bags a while longer? totally normal? super fast culture I should clone immediately?

it was from a vendor LC, inoculated oats 12/3, oats spawned to wood/bran/gypsum 12/21. they were slow to colonize the oats but went buck wild once they hit the wood. has smelled like shiitake every step of the way, plates made at the same time as the oat spawn have been clean and wedges from those have been used to colonize more jars of oats. the shelf they're sitting on stays between 65 and 70 and gets light on 12/12. popcorn blisters are obvious all the way around but browning is minimal so far except a few patches on top. both fruiting blocks are like this.

Block looks fine. Give it at least long enough to get mostly brown. My guess 30 days?

No but my guess knowing oyster cultures its harder to kill it than it is colonising your shoe.......... lol, If you put a clean quarter in a pint jar I bet its alsmost colonised before the transfers from the same plate are ready to use.

Is it from a clone? If its any good I will swap for a reishi culture if you like?
The final expansion ive being using is masters mix, really easy and supposed to be the best industry wide......That is untill I chatted with caps and he reccons sterilise spent cube substrate is better............

Yes it’s cloned from a shop bought fruit, not had a chance to test it but you’re more than welcome to have a sample no worries
Where are you getting your soy hulls from? I see Holland and barrett do toasted soya bran would that work with the sawdust you reckon?
