What do you think about the orange? I'm guessing its metabolites. Is it ok?

Any green in the pics is from where I reduced pic quality to upload.

Looks like theyโ€™re doing their thing.  They should brown up in the next few weeks.  They start to really popcorn before they do.  I wouldnโ€™t sweat the orange.

Sweet, should I be looking in to getting a fogger and fan and timer? I saw a handy / cheap set up on dontknowificansaythename.com but haven't bought anything yet.

Roughly what's the time from spawning to pins for king oysters (on sawdust/ straw)

Is there a best time to make a clone? Could I just use one of the little pins or should I take tissue from the inside of a mature fruit?

definitely take tissue from the centre of the mushroom.
anything exposed to open air is possibly contaminated.
the younger the mushroom the better for cloning but bigger fruits are more practical to clone.

Cool, thank you.

Once the caps of oyster mushrooms start to curl up it's time to harvest right?

I would harvest sooner rather than later so just before that final curl flattens.
Sporedrops can make quite a mess but of course in this specific case that won't really be an issue.

I hope it is ok to ask this here.
If not please inform me and I apologize.

So I was thinking about building a flow hood. Since I want to start doing some bags. I have done a handful of them in my SAB but it's a pain to do so.

A 24"x24" would be nice for bags I'm sure. But I have very limited space.

I had an idea tho. Shouldn't it work just as good to have a 12"x24" flow hood and just place the bags on a lower level then the flow hood is at. So that the top (opening) of the bags is in the flow of the hood?
Seems to me it should be no problem what so ever? I understand that if you grow a lot this will be a small pain maybe but for someone only growing for myself and family and filling a 4 tier GH. It should work great I think/hope.

Just wanted to ask so that I'm not missing anything before making the decision to order everything.
Maybe one of you guys are already doing this?

Thanks

you could make it work but youll always be thinking of the extra space you could have while doing work. I have a 2x4 and always dream about getting a wall of filters or something.

So you are saying get the 24x24"?
Spent several hours today looking for a filter 12x24 but so much easier and cheaper to get 24x24", maybe its a sign  ?

EDIT: I hope it OK that I ask this here. I just hate to start new threads.
Could someone please help me find a 12"x24" HEPA Filter and a blower that will work with that filter. I have a hard time finding a seller here in Europe or a seller in the US that doesnt charge more for the shipping then the HEPA and/or blower.

Please :pm: me or write here.

My budget is around 500 USD, so shouldn't be a problem, but I been at this for 2 days now and my head is spinning :frown:

I'm not able to find much on how to inoculate logs with sawdust. Mainly I'm wondering how to get the sawdust in without buying a 40 dollar tool. And why most people seem to use dowels. Perhaps this is why?

Thanks.

Thin pipe ~5/8โ€id  8- 10โ€ long, and a metal dowel that fits into it perfect about 1/2โ€ longer than the pipe, load the pipe with sawdust and use a hammer to drive the dowel pushing it into the holes you drilled.

Hey guys so I'm taking my luck on Cordyceps militaris.
And I'm wandering is there a way I could grow cordyceps sinensis?

Would these be ready to froot yet? They're at 54 days now, plenty of popcorning going on and they are plenty brown on the top surface but very little round the sides. They've been that way since I posted a couple of weeks ago so I don't think they're going to go browner but idk:shrug:

Slap one on the sides, pull out and give it a dunk in cold water for a couple hours, dry off and put it in the fruiter...if it does well, do the rest.  They like to fruit in cool temps.
