Lol he was buffing it to paint. And I’ve gotten him to do worse! 😂 I actually bought a liner but he thought paint would be better as he welded tabs for the rack.
I’m so lucky to have him help me.
I put it on just before 11 this morning and it is only at 96c almost 12 hours later. Definitely needs insulation. Going to keep it going (because I obviously filled it with fruiting blocks and grain bags because I’m an optimist and why wouldn’t I?). My goal is 100c. Hoping 24 hours will do the trick even though it isn’t up to temp.

Nice project, I'm building one too... i mostly need to find me some hole saw to drill the holes in my drum before i have everything - i think.
Yeah insulation should be incorporated i believe... will start with waste materials if possible but would later love to use mycelium as insulation.

It's been happening for a while. Both for buildings and packaging

My Lepista nuda (wood blewit) colonized the sterilized soil casing. I'm going to try pasteurized soil next. And if that doesn't work, straight soil.
I'm trying to find a culture that will fruit without the cold shock I think is commonly necessary.

That’s some cool stuff! I did find some eco packaging company used no mycellium. That bowl is great though!

How do you get oysters to not pin before full colonization?
I use large vented bags, just under 5 lb per fruit block, I use about 2-3 (sometimes 4-5 by accident) of oat spawn and mix well. I keep the bags with airflow under and around, room temps. They don’t usually even make it two weeks before they start pinning.
I would like to be able to just fold the bags over and slice the side or top but even when I try I still just get pinning in the top.

Yes it is. Just trying pearl and blue too and noticing the pearl looking like it’s going to follow suit.

In some respects GO is like Lion's mane, it can produce weak looking growth (usually on low nutrition substrates), that later thickens in the middle. I believe the mycelium searches for nutrients (usually nitrogen from proteins), consolidating what it finds to one location.
The same can be said for fruit formations, it's obvious the GO mycelium consolidates nutrients (tubers). GO will produce tubers in-vitro, but will need lots of oxygen for fruit body production.

2 weeks, probably prolific genetics.

So for the first time I got this much things in my GH going at once. Feels great! All Goumay but 1 shoebox of PE.
2 Turkey tail blocks about 8 Lions mane blocks and a few Sporeless oyster blocks in there currently.
Temps around 24-27c. ( Currently summer here ) Got a InkBird for humidity set at 95%RH and keep back on at 92%.
Question here being.. What could be the reasons my Sporeless oyster looks like this? I have grown Pink oyster a couple of times with great success on both HWFP and on straw.
But here is my GH currently. What could it be why the Sporeless oysters looks so weird? (bad) Dirty spawn? Genetics? I know I should lower RH after pinning but got so much things in different stages in there at once so I keep it at 95%RH. Should I maybe go a bit lower?
Please shine some light here please. It's my first time growing theses osyers so maybe I will just give it another go.
All blocks got inocluated with grains that was inoculated with different plates all of them, so not same agar plate in all of them.
Only hard wood fuel pellets in there, no suppliments.

Do you know how the spore shut down was achieved? It looks like the end result is a mutant. It could also be other factors such as infection, or possibly low oxygen.
I guess mutation if the genetics have been altered.

No I do not know, got it from a seller in Europe. Not a sponsor. I was hoping that the fact that the lions mane (at least to me) looks alright that maybe you could tell if there is to little oxygen and other factor.
Will wait and see because in 2 days I got 5 more blocks of sporeless oysters fully colonized, will see if they do the same thing.
Really hoping its not genetics haha was hard to hunt down a culture.
Thanks

I think mutation, or infection (if infection, you have a chance to clean it).
Hopefully Quadman or another will comment on the indoor LM. The oysters to me look mutated, the stems are malformed, twisted and bulging. Usually I would say infection, or low oxygen. Looking at the grow area, I would say you have at least medium FAE.
Medium FAE shouldn't produce malformed fruits, unless there's an infection, just stretching. Here is GO, in medium FAE conditions, with limited light, growing towards air.

Lions mane looks good. It can tolerate lower oxygen. More air and lighting would be my first changes on the oysters. Then consider the culture if that doesnt help.
