Those nebro are going to be so cool if you pull it off! They look great!
On the LC, yeah plates can get messy I just transfer as soon as I get growth. Prefer not to use LC on agar. Just keep master plates and slants.

This is my second order of mushroom lcs. My first was in June.
I have learned so much since then.
I'm just hoping I can learn as much about raising fruit as I did last go about sterile technique and contamination.

have you worked with an inoculation loop at all? make a streak plate is your best bet.

It’s been cool and super windy. Thinking they might need a drink before long.

Supposed to be Nebrodensis “summer trumpet” from Asheville Fungi (they don’t carry it anymore). Sure look like kings.

Interesting Pleurotus nebrodensis is endangered, and grows from limestone (CaCO3). Even the Google images I found look exactly like KO "AKA" King Trumpet.
Are you willing to trade samples, I like warm fruiting types.

Yeah, I used lime in place of gypsum and also limed the casing. Not sure how warm of a fruiter they are, they’ve been outside a little over a week and it’s froze a couple times. I had them around 72F and they weren’t doing anything, so they definitely needed that cold shock.

I have a nebrodensis too. It basically is a king oyster but from a very specific region. It's considered endangered.
I think the appropriate name is Pleurotus Eryngii var. Nebrodensis

Nice, makes sense that's its an Eryngii, my indoor Eryngii triggered fruiting due to CaCO3 hydration (heavy misting). It suddenly makes sense that it triggered fruiting since it likes limestone, as do many other species.

So just an update on my experiment of WBS in my 24 hour steam sterilizer. So far its a success, I put a couple bags in there and they all turned out fine so far I have some colonization on my WBS to WBS transfer. The only one that did contam out was the blue LC. I think it was a bad LC anyway, you never know with them. I just had it sitting for months and said what the hell might as well give it a try, I had 2 syringes from 2 suppliers and one is contam and one is starting to colonize so far. ill keep everyone updated. beats putting a couple bags in my pressure cooker at a time. I currently have 40 bags of sawdust sterilizing with about five 5 pound bags of WBS going in the same sterilizer also. Its nice to get it all done at once. I will post some pics soon.

@bigdaddyclint, have you tried unmodified wood pellets, to clean your LC's?
You need a 250ml container, and say 25g of wood pellets hydrated. Use like it was agar as such, add a few drops in the middle.
Use toothpick pegs, as a site marker, and to transfer.
I suggest passing the peg transfer to agar.

@ferather, no I have not tried that ill give it a try, I do have some blue oyster LC that I can give it a try on just in case this bag of wbs does not make it. thanks for the tip, does anyone have any advice on storing pink oyster spawn? I have had luck just putting in in the fridge for about a month, I did just have a hiccup though a bag of spawn that had fully colonized a bag of wbs. Ater transfer to hwfp did not colonize AT ALL im guessing the spawn did not make it in the fridge. Do most people just keep bags out? any help would be great thanks all.

Pink oyster dies below 10-12°C, you would need to keep it at 16-18°C, and cut off the O2 (air) to get dormancy.

Damn.. doesn't give me much time to store spawn at those temps. wouldn't even get 2 weeks before the block turned solid or started to get to old.

You will probably need to store the Pink oyster on wood such as a peg, or agar, in a centrifuge vial. When you are ready to make spawn, you should transfer it to grain and use it.
