Chances are you've got an air current drying out one side of your tub. You'll have to rotate it to keep the moisture even since you can't shut off the hvac.

Can't hurt.
Those look like some serious metabolites you got pooling there.

I just did a bunch of work on my shed today sealing cracks and i glued a shirt over the ac vent with a few slits to try and cut down the airflow hopefully that helps ...
But ya using coir again i believe is going to be way more beneficial then i was thinking it also helps stretch the poo farther i can make 18 12qt bags of sub with 6 bricks and a 50# dog food bag of hpoo before i was only getting 9 with that same amount of poo

this is the 3rd trial i am experimenting on. i used filters from one tub that flushed out. the tub was harvested and had no contamination. the filters were then transfered to a fresh tub without any pressure cooking. and used at spawning. so far so good. this is a really old one called "matias romero".
probably one of the slowest cultures i have ever seen. it creeped on two different agar mixes. was thrown on some tea agar mix. then transfers via LI to some oat grain. it colonized at normal speeds. once it went to bulk, it definitely changed speed and grew a very nice and even looking substrate.
im fairly confident this flush will grow without contamination even though the filters have not been cleaned or sterilized in any way after the initial grow.
the pins looked like the above pictures today. the holes all had the 3 fold method in them. today, all filters were switched to the rolled method for FAE. there is no fan involved in this setup.

My rolled up 4" squares are VERY loose with unfiltered air; this is with repeated use. I'm going to try 6" squares with my next set.

Since receiving hams wonderful print pack, I noticed that the true pinky filter material is slightly thicker than the blue filter shit I have been using. I will try to find the packaging that the blue roll came in when I go back to my job site and will update with thickness if found.
Another note, don't know if I said it previously, but I did not clean the blue squares before use. They cam from my nasty, dusty job site. I hit them on my hand a few times to knock some dust off but that was it.

Ive used sponges since day 1 as lids filter and it work great, as good as SFDs IMO.
And those are real cheap...
never tried them for tubs though.

Mustangbob3 uses them for tub filters!
Unfortunately I had to go out of town and that tub posted above will likely be an over grown mess when I get back.

Thanks faht. Its super easy also. 3 fold during colonization, rolled during fruiting. No thinking about or observation required.
And no poly between your toes.

Checking in for this experiment, I had to move cross country again and sort of fell off. I'm starting up my monotub in about a week once I get all the supplies, and I'm compeletely intrigued; needless to say I will be adding this roll of filter material to my supply list. Will check back in with my setup.

this was taken from a 2015 print of stropharia. a misnomered cubensis. anyway, its looking good so far. when the pins looked like this today, the filters were changed from folded 3 times, to rolled in all holes. that was all. its ready to begin fruiting. it was top layered at spawning.
