What kind of snake is this?
    #24404733 - 06/14/17 11:29 AM (3 years, 10 months ago)

Hope pic works.  I live in northern WV if that helps.  I haven't seen one like this before it was hanging out in a wood pile.  We don't usually have many poisonous snakes around here mainly copper heads  but was wanting to see if this one is dangerous to see if I should hunt it down and kill it or not.  I like having harder snakes around to keep rodents away but don't want a bad one hurting my kids.

Was thinking milk snake but really don't have the experience to even begin to make guess.  Someone told me they are slightly poisonous probably not harmful to humans just small animals I'm guessing.

Didn't think it was dangerous but wanted to check.  People getting hurt by snake bites is relatively unheard of around here.  I've personally only seen one copper head and it was a baby.  And my dad saw one about 20 years ago.  But I've heard of people getting bit by them and not even going to the ER,  seems like spiders are more dangerous in these parts.  I women I worked with got bit in the leg by a brown recluse and couldn't walk or a week and was on crutches for a month the wound was nasty.

It's a pretty snake. They are made to look like n act like rattlesnakes, which are native to WV, but it's to discourage predators from fuckin with it.

That is pretty neat.  I think most rattlers are farther down south then where I'm at.  I've heard of one rattlesnake sighting about 20 years ago but it could have been misidentified or the guy could have just lied.

Anyways I think I'm gonna go catch that milk snake and get me some good milk for my breakfast.  You can prettt much milk anything with nipples.

Ya I'm big into wildlife pics myself.  I've actually been seeing a lot of different types of turtles around that I've never seen before. I saw a soft shelled snapping turtle a few months ago just hanging out in a puddle on a road in a rainstorm.  It was a big ol boy and the first and only one I've seen in the wild.  I might have a picture of that guy somewh.  Also been seeing more and more snapping turtles around the river and creeks around here, and more box turtles in general.  Something got the turtle population busting up.

Also we have a few bald eagles flying around these parts recently.  Before they showed up there hasn't been a bald eagle sighting before in my area.

Soft shelled snapper.  Sorry for the bad photo. He was actually pretty cool.  Couldn't get better pics because it was pouring rain and he might have bit me in the ween.  First and last time ive seen one.  We don't have a lot of cool animals around but there are a few and are usually hard to find.

One time riding 4 wheelers in the creek we stopped and I looked around and saw this snake with a fish half way down its throat.  And this damn fish was nearly the size of the snake I have no idea how he was going to finish it or digest it.  This was before cell phone picture phones so I didn't get a photo,  I wish I would have though it was pretty damn neat to see.  It was so vulnerable in the position too couldn't move or do anything except try to swallow this fish.  My friend wants to smash it but I was having none of that.

Also I have seen some massive black snakes,  one was about the size of a 2 or 3 once pvc pipe and probably 10 feet long or more.  I stumbled upon him out looking for shroomzies and almost stepped on him.  He was a monster.  Seen a few other big ones usually slivering across country roads,  not the best place to sun bathe.  Seen a few water mochasins too it's cool watching them swim in deep water with just their head sticking up,  looked like a tiny Loch Ness monster.  Those suckers are mean though
