Ok, my question for all the hunting experts in Georgia. What mushrooms will or will not grow in other areas of Georgia? The Shroomery list for Georgia includes: ______Georgia:________ Gymnopilus junonius* Gymnopilus luteofolius** Gymnopilus luteus** Panaeolus cinctulus* Panaeolus cyanescens** Panaeolus olivaceus** Pluteus salicinus*** Pluteus cyanopus*** Psilocybe atlantis*** Psilocybe caerulescens** Psilocybe caerulipes*** Psilocybe cubensis* Psilocybe galindoi (atlantis and galindoi may be conspecific with mexicana)***
Thanks, Lynerd

Your question is a bit confusing. What do you mean by "other" areas of Georgia?
The mushrooms listed have each their set of preferences for growth, so the best thing you can do is study them, check if conditions are favourable for a given species, and go searching the specified habitat(s).

I appreciate the info. What I meant by "other;" for example Weilii might be found above Atlanta so there's no need to include it on list of possible mushrooms for my area even though from what I've read it is found in Georgia. Just trying to narrow the list down a bit. Georgia has many different habitats.

Remember that mushrooms don't use maps - at least not the sort we're used to. Species that so far haven't been found in a given area might still be able to grow there, thus the prevalence of eager hunters might expand, not narrow such a list.
Best of luck on your hunts!

Yeah, deep down I know you're right about that. Heck Yesterday I was looking at which was the best field guide National Audubon or Mushrooms Demystified and several or the mushrooms on the GA list from above was not in the Audubon Field guide at all which I thought might be a more complete guide. I haven't seen the other guide yet. I wonder if the newest edition might include more from the list above. Any thoughts?

This is the list I referenced when I started reading about actives in GA: https://www.shroomery.org/8461/Which-psilocybin-mushrooms-grow-wild-in-my-area
If you really want to get started I would recommend just going out and hunting. Take pictures of everything (habitats too) and save examples of everything. Go home, post your pictures somewhere where people identify them (various Facebook groups and mushroom observer are good starting places). At any point you think you have an active one you should post it here.

you're currently posting in the Mushroom Hunting and Identification forum.
post all finds in new threads here, OP, and there are Trusted Identifiers that will ID them for you if you're thorough enough with your information and pictures.
