The biggest mistake in security...

I personally believe that the biggest mistake you can make, after taking all the necessary precautions is being paranoid around cops... People get the impression that the police are assholes that wont let anyone get away with anything, and while that may be the case in your town, where I live it is not. I can have a completely decent conversation with the police and they know my name, as far as I know, to them, I'm still just an ordinary citizen who has a job and is involved in the community. If I acted paranoid around them they would definitely get suspicious that something was going on and probably look around in places I don't want them to. My point is, you can get out of almost any problem just with your atitude in general, if you come off as a genuine person they most likely will not bother you.

It's easy enough to say 'don't be paranoid, you'll be fine!', but if you have something on you that you shouldnt then some people are likely to get worried

good points, human nature is at play, even with 50.
but i dont like police, and just because im not doing anything wrong, i dont want to talk to them or make any conversation at all. this doesnt make me any more "suspicious'
in an ideal world, or in a court of law, they ,must have specific and articulable facts to search, be detained, or arrest, and 'looking shady" or "suspicious" doesnt fall into this category.
i know what you guys mean, but if im not being arrested, or detained, i gots to be out -- silently.

I find that the trick may just be to genuinely know that you're not doing anything wrong.
I find that when I genuinely know deep inside that there is nothing wrong with being high or being shroomed out, and that just because some gov't made a law against it doesn't make it morally or objectively wrong, then the presense of a cop (or anyone for that matter) fails to make me paranoid. (because, what could I possibly be paranoid of if I know I've done nothing wrong?)
I totally agree with you, bluefrog.

cops are fun to play with too!
one night while driving around after an APC concert, this cop followed us 2 or 3 miles down the main street of the city. We knew what he was doing (waiting for us to fuck up) so we drove 5 under the whole way which was like 35mph... terribly slow for an unbusy, wide road haha. Well we got to almost where the city limit ends and about 50 feet before the intersection we turned our blinker on. the cop had already gotten tired of us and was pulling into the left lane. As soon as we turned out blinker on, he swerved across 3 lanes and put his lights on behind us and pulled us over. he came over acting high and mighty, and on that particular night, we were sober and had nothing in the car hehehe. the cop said he pulled us over cause we didn't signal 150 YARDS before the light. He went back to his car and called backup. in a few minutes another cop pulled into the mcdonalds parking lot, and they came over and asked to search us. We played along and while getting out of the car one of the guys mumbled "its a good thing we got rid of all that HEROIN" the cop said "What?!" and he said "huh? nothing?" hehehe pretty stupid thing to do but... it was funny at the time. the cop took his jolly good time bending his fat ass all over in the car looking for drugs, and in the end never even fucking LOOKED in the trunk hahahahahha. I really hate my city's cops. He told us he would "let us off with a warning" and that we needed to signal sooner. we left the place and were going the speed limit down the street and a minute later the cop FLEW past us easily going 80 in a 40 without his lights on.... jesus what an asshole

My big thing is that the cops can do anything they want to you. They can do illeagal searches, they can make up reasons why they stopped you, heck they can frame you,and unless you can afford a good laywer then theres nothing you can do.They can put you in jail on bullshit charges and even if eventually its proven that there was no evidence,or unjust cause, you may very well sit in jail for monthes. With your job screwed, and your bills not being paid and basicly screwing up your life.Cops can do anything they want to you.It might be turned over but like i said if you dont have money, for bail, for a good lawyer ect...your screwed, even if you are innocent. Now that is Screwed up,and thats why some people get nervous around cops.

My friend spills his guts and talks too fuckin much when cops ask him questions. The dude cannot be trusted at all, if he gets caught for weed he will probably give all the name he can just to get off the hook.

Never let a cop search your car. I know this makes you seem suspicious if you acutally do have somthing. But if you dont it really pisses them off. The cops in my town have fake drug dogs that always signal for drugs.

Thanks for bumping a 2 year old thread. But thanks even more for taking up half the screen with your ugly signature.
But yes, paranoia isn't going to get you anywhere. But at times, it's difficult to control. Especially if you aren't sober.
But it depends. "to them, I'm still just an ordinary citizen who has a job and is involved in the community"
Probably AKA: I'm an ordinary respectable white guy. Cops profile, that's how it works. If you look like a hippy, a teenager, black, mexican, etc, many cops will be suspicious of you regardless of whether or not you're being paranoid.

One of my favorite things is when a cop tells me "They don't want to see me in this part of town again" etc etc etc. Thats fun to play with. Because, if you're walking down the street, what can they do? Nothing. So, let them get pissed off at you. Hell, get hauled in. Then watch the officer get screamed at by the magistrate for an hour for wasting the court's, the DA's, and the judge's time.
All living things have feelings. Where there are feelings, there are weaknesses. Have fun playing with them.

Friend: Is there a problem officer? Cop: Yeah, we're looking for a run away named *Name* Friend: There's no *Name* here officer. -Cop looks inside- Cop: Don't you know smoking marijuana is illegal in the state of Washington? Friend: Yeah Cop: Don't you know that stuff makes you stupid Friend: Yeah Cop: Have a good night Friend: You too sir

So true. I get nervous around cops even when I absolutely have no reason to. I simply remind myself that I have nothing to hide. The same goes for "victimless crimes." You have nothing to hide. If they find out you're committing one of those horrible atrocities, you still have nothing to hide, because you didn't do anything wrong by any reasonable or worthwhile standard of "wrong."
It helps to remember the standard of "wrong" that is simple What Society Says Is or anything similar is a coward's standard of wrong.
