avidpicker said: Hey textured he definitely is close to the very wild and secluded parts of the Allegheny which I'd love to get back to. Some of my most enchanting hauls were from around his parts. Just sucks he don't have a ride to check different areas because I know he would find good flood plains that are still moderately easy to navigate. We don't have too many box elders down around me either, alot of oak, maple and hemlocks but they're still very abundant. But hey we're all getting him 1 step closer to his goal hopefully. You better start adding an H to the end of that Pittsburg word. That's not very considerate of yinz down there. Jk
Being a Bmore resident I should've just left it as is, but since I don't care about football I changed it for ya.
So they are coming off the Allegheny too? That's cool if so. What species of tree do you usually find ovoids on if there isn't much Box elder around?
I'm not into fball like that either just pluckin with ya. Yeah definitely the Allegheny and quite a few of its tributaries that I've been to put out just as much as the other 2 rivers. I've found them as far north as the tionesta area and I'd imagine they go even further. I mean there are a good bit of box elder but more pin oak, silver maple, sycamore and tulip poplar than anything.

Hey Psycho- just wanted to let you know that I found 2 very small ones yesterday 15 ft from a creek in between a couple of fallen box elders. It was where the sticks/mulch was washed up, but there was soil enough to partly bury the sticks/logs and there was stinging nettle growing there, too, and they were hiding under it. I forgot to take a habitat pic again (sorry- I was thinking of you, too) because I got caught up in looking for more. I'm not a fan of the hot/humid weather, so I might ease up looking for now, but I imagine it's a little cooler up near you so you might not feel the heat as much. I don't like sweating when I'm walking through poison ivy. Just saying. Ok man- keep looking. Looking forward to seeing your first finds in that area!
