Darkish stems
    #1454857 - 04/13/03 03:16 PM (20 years, 11 months ago)

I've noticed that shrooms can have darker stems that look like they're saturated with water. Are the darker stems a symptom of too much humidity or too much water? Is it a problem?

Are you sure that species doesn't have darker stems? My stems on my recent first grow were white and puffy, I believe due to moisture, so I don't think that's the case here. I couldn't tell you.

The strain is PF. They don't look like they have a darker stem pigment or anything like that. Most of the stems just look totally saturated with water which makes them darker.

I'm wondering if these is an indication of too much water availability or too much humidity, etc.

my foaf has some pf's pins that are about 1inch and all of them are a brownish cream color(more on the cream side). its his first time growing so i guess that's just the normal color of these mushies... i hope.

The dark areas are in lines up the stem and on some of the shrooms the lines are so wide it's basically the entire stem.

It's normal.

Placing the cake directly on perlite can result in waterlogged mushrooms, commonly referred to as "fat asses".

Even with the new warning the necrophiliacs won't let up

Edit: didn't see the warning this time maybe they took it off already?
