I love jars but once you get the hang of bags you can do mutliple tubs at a tike in a pc run instead of only 2 or 3

Thoughts about this novelty/experiment? Inoculated a few random substrates from MSS back on the 21st (see bare notes in my journal entry ) and the only one that took off other than agar and BRF was this oatmeal:

Tried to get a good look all around the jar, single inoculation point, squirted on top of the cooked and PC'd oatmeal through a SHIP, has a tyvek 1/4" GE port in the center of the lid.
It started very quickly, around 5 days after inoculation I noticed some very faint mycellium on the side of the jar, and a small white blob in the center. Visibility has been next to nil thanks to the mycellium on the walls and the solid lid. From what little I can make out, the entire top is covered in white growth. I'm super curious, but obviously don't want to open it yet.

I am! I'm hoping that within a week or two it consolidates enough that I feel comfortable removing the lid and placing either a bag or a cup over the top so I can watch it and see what happens.

I think I need to stop playing with fun things and do more of the "industry standard" atleast until I can get consistent. I'm about 50/50 now. Real hit or miss. So I have 4 PE masters in the fridge, should I just drop one whole plate into three quarts, then try to expand those? Maybe my LC wasn't clean. Somehow.

What % do you guys mix your telephone co agar. I just started using it and 2% is bulletproof. Was gonna drop it down to 1.5%.

How do you do your agar? Use a scale? Post back your recipe if you can. I use telephone but often am not happy with my plates.

Pour. My basic recipe is 2% nute (malt extract or whatever) 2% agar
I just switched to telephone and at 2% it is STIFF. I made some sloppy ass xfers last night trying to dig the wedges out. I always used the whole food brand which is awesome but way $$$.

I use a scale for my agar I put about 3.5 g to I believe 250ml of water and couple tsp of potato flakes. Made agar about ten times and still go to the pasty plate link to confirm.lol my agar is fine powder and.tends to be super hard at 5 grams per 250 ml

3.5g to 250ml would be 1.4% which is where I was thinking of starting. I'll try that. Thanks!

Gonna try that too thanks. Just gonna convert it into pasty plates. 250ml probably make a lot but I have a big PC.
Cooking 7 quarts of oats and one jar of about a half pint of grain water. Gonna try the LC one more time with a clean unopened clone plate from a friend. Surely that'll work. And gonna do three of the quarts with one whole colonized plate of PE each.

I usually do have agar left over. Some I do no pour and some I pour. The left over I put in the fridge with my other stuff, wrapped and in a bag. Im planning on throwing it in a pc run to make.sure it's good and use it up, doesnt take much room.

I always PC my left overs and stick it where I store my unused plates.
I found I get my agar to go farther if I pour from a media bottle into my no pour plates LOL. I just made 48 pasty plates with about 450ml agar mix. I used to use a small ladle but used to much agar.

Never thought of that. So if you have leftover agar, you can put it in a media vessel, store in fridge and PC before pouring? You don't lose consistency or anything? I've got some agar that's old as fuck in my fridge. Nothing's growing on it, so I was actually wondering if I can reuse it. That's awesome guys!
